Girl group H1-KEY is set to commemorate their fourth anniversary with the release of their latest single, “Not Like a Movie, ”scheduled for January 5, 2026. This release coincides with exactly four years since their debut.
The new track, titled “세상은 영화같지 않더라 (Not Like a Movie)”in Korean, will be available on all major digital platforms at 6 p.m. KST, as announced by their agency, Choi Creative Lab Entertainment. This marks H1-KEY’s first musical offering in roughly seven months, following the release of their fourth mini-album, “Lovestruck, ”back in June 2025.
This upcoming single signifies a notable shift in concept for the group, transitioning from their previous summer vibe represented by “Summer Was You”to a more contemplative winter theme. The title alludes to the notion that life is akin to a movie, instilling excitement and curiosity about H1-KEY’s evolving musical narrative, as highlighted by Korea JoongAng Daily.
In the lead-up to the single’s release, H1-KEY will showcase their talents at the year-end event “2026 Countdown Show LIGHT NOW, ”taking place in Myeongdong on December 31. Fans can expect additional promotional content and visuals to roll out in the upcoming weeks.
History and Accomplishments of H1-KEY
H1-KEY made their official debut on January 5, 2022, launching their career with the single album “Athletic Girl, ”produced under Grandline Group (GLG) and Sony Music Korea. The name “H1-KEY, ”pronounced as “High-key, ”embodies their aspiration for a confident and wholesome beauty image.
The group faced a significant transition early in their journey when original member Sitala left due to personal reasons in May 2022. Subsequently, Hwiseo joined the group in June 2022, marking her debut with the maxi single “Run, ”as reported by KStarLoud.
H1-KEY has successfully carved out a distinctive musical identity, characterized by authenticity and emotional depth, with tracks like “Rose Blossom, ””SEOUL (Such a Beautiful City), ”and “Let It Burn.”The group celebrated a major milestone with their first music show win for “SEOUL”on September 5, 2023.
In 2025, H1-KEY garnered notable international acclaim when their song “Summer Was You”was recognized as one of the best K-pop tracks of the year by both NME and Billboard. NME placed the song sixth on their “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2025″list, commending its math-rock influences and captivating hook, as detailed in Kpopping. Furthermore, the group celebrated their official Japanese debut in August 2025, with the Japanese version of “Lovestruck”achieving impressive results, ranking third on the Oricon Daily Album chart.
