Guide to Crafting Sails in Echoes of Elysium

Echoes of Elysium immerses players in a captivating survival crafting experience aboard a customizable airship. To embark on this thrilling adventure, one of the first tasks is to craft Sails. However, the game lacks clear instructions on how to proceed, which can leave players feeling uncertain right from the start.

This guide aims to assist you in successfully crafting your initial sails in Echoes of Elysium, ensuring you set off on this journey with favorable winds at your back.

Unlocking the Sails Blueprint in Echoes of Elysium

The initial step to create a Sail involves unlocking the Invention Desk and the recipes for Makeshift Airship Pieces. These blueprints become available once you collect the following essential resources:

Wood
Plant Fiber
Liftium Shards
Broken Parts

Players can easily find these materials on the floating stone islets surrounding the starting area. Additionally, by utilizing the glider (hold jump – Spacebar), you can access small clouds of materials suspended in the air, which contain Liftium and other resources.

Once you have gathered the necessary materials, return to your airship and construct a Makeshift Deck, ensuring to leave an appropriate space for the Invention Desk. Next, place the Invention Desk atop the Makeshift structure and cover it with a curved Makeshift Airship part to meet the requirement that it must be sheltered.

Interact with the Invention Desk to unlock the crafting recipes for the Crafting Bench and the Crude Sail. Repeat this process to build the Crafting Bench (placing and covering it with a roof) and interact with it to create Burlap Cloth and Burlap Rope from Plant Fibers, along with crafting a Strut using the Broken Parts.

With all components ready, you can finally craft your first Sail using the following materials:

1x Strut
2x Burlap Cloth
2x Burlap Rope
2x Wood

Position the sail on the hull of your airship, taking care to avoid any collision with nearby workbenches or structures, as this will cause damage whenever the sails deploy and retract.

Keep in mind that as Echoes of Elysium is still in Early Access, players may encounter various collision issues. The airship’s structures are particularly sensitive, and floating mines can destroy a Makeshift Airship with ease, so navigate cautiously.

With your sails installed, you can now venture out to explore the diverse and devastated landscapes of Echoes of Elysium. Begin your adventure by heading toward the Lighthouse and the Dry Dock, which is located to the north of your starting position. Simply fly straight ahead from the spawn point at maximum speed, while avoiding any floating stones or mines.

Upon unlocking the Dry Dock, players will gain the ability to further customize their airship, providing opportunities to enhance both its appearance and performance on your adventurous journeys.
