November 2025 Feature Update for Google Pixel Devices
Google has begun its November 2025 feature rollout for Pixel devices, introducing a host of enhancements anchored in the Android 16 QPR1 platform. Noteworthy updates include AI-driven notification summaries, a newly added Power Saving mode for Google Maps, and enhanced scam detection capabilities.
AI-Powered Notification Summaries
The new notification summaries feature offers concise overviews of lengthy conversations directly within the notification shade, tailored for English conversations. This innovation, powered by the on-device Gemini Nano model, is exclusive to Pixel 9 models and higher, with the exception of the 9A. A follow-up release is anticipated in December, which will further refine notification management by silencing those categorized as low-priority.

Addressing AI Hallucinations
This feature may draw comparisons to a similar offering from Apple, which has faced challenges with hallucination issues typical of large language models (LLMs).A notable incident involved the AI mistakenly reporting that Luigi Mangione, a suspect in a high-profile case, had committed suicide, despite being in police custody, highlighting the importance of accuracy in AI-generated content.
Expanded Pixel Journal App
The Pixel Journal app, launched with the Pixel 10, is now accessible on the Pixel 8 and 9 series. This versatile application allows users to document their day in various formats, including text, photos, and videos, while seamlessly integrating with Google services like Maps and Health Connect to enrich user experiences.
Enhanced Scam Detection Features
Scam detection functionalities have been broadened. For users of Pixel 6 and newer models in the United States, this enhancement allows the scanning of notifications from major chat apps, delivering alerts for suspected scams. Additionally, the in-call scam detection feature is now available for Pixel 9 users and above in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and the UK.
Additional Features in This Update
- Call Notes feature expands its availability to users in Australia, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Japan for Pixel 9 and above (excluding 9A).
- A new VIP contacts feature enables messages from key individuals to be highlighted in yellow for easier identification (available on Pixel 6 and newer).
- Google Maps introduces a Power Saving Mode that minimizes the user interface to essentials for the Pixel 10 series.
- Google Photos now offers “Personalized Edits”which utilize data from previous photos to correct common issues, like closed eyes or sunglasses, for group shots (available to eligible Android users in the US).
