While the Google Play Store is a fantastic platform for discovering new apps, it can sometimes misinterpret your preferences due to occasional misusage by family members, leading to chaotic recommendation feeds. If your recommendations are getting cluttered with unrelated app suggestions—thanks in part to your children’s explorations—consider implementing these strategies to regain control and tailor your app suggestions to your actual interests.
Manage Activity Impacting Play Store Recommendations
By default, Google collects and analyzes your Play Store interactions, including searches and app openings. This data is stored in Google My Activity alongside other Google information. To selectively delete unwanted activities that may be shaping your recommendations, navigate to the My Activity section and remove specific entries.
To do this within the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, followed by Personalization in Play. Under Play History, you can review your activities. An X button will appear next to each entry for easy removal. Once deleted, it effectively resets that interaction from influencing your suggestions.

If you find the process of deleting activities one by one tedious, you can opt to delete all activities for a particular day instead. Simply select the Delete drop-down menu and choose the timeframe for removal.

Alternatively, you can visit myactivity.google.com and manage your Play Store activity from there.
Control App Influence on Recommendations
The Google Play Store also utilizes your installed and previously installed apps to recommend new content. This means older app usage could still influence your current suggestions. To prevent specific apps from affecting your Play Store recommendations, follow these steps:
Access Personalization in Play and select Other Play Personalization. Click on Manage under Your Play content to see a list of all apps and games you’ve ever installed.

To exclude an app from future recommendations, simply toggle off the selection next to it.
Resetting Google Play Store Recommendations
If your recommendations are still unsatisfactory and you wish to start afresh, consider a comprehensive reset of your Play Store data. This should be viewed as a last resort, as it permanently deletes all your app data and cannot be undone. To complete this process, follow these steps:
Step 1: Clear Google Play Store Activity History
Begin by erasing all activity that affects your recommendations. Return to Play History as mentioned previously, select Delete → Delete all time. Ensure both Google Play Store and Google Play Games are checked, and then click Next to preview your data before opting to Delete.

Step 2: Delete Uninstalled Apps History
Google retains a log of all apps you have ever owned, including uninstalled ones. To remove these traces, go to your profile icon and select Manage apps & device. Navigate to the Manage tab, click on This device → Not installed.

Identify the uninstalled apps, select the checkboxes next to each, and then tap the Delete icon located in the top-right corner to eliminate them from your history.

Step 3: Clear Apps and Games Interests
At times, Google may directly ask for your app and game interests within the For You section. If you have provided this information at any point, it will need to be purged for a complete reset.
To do this, tap your profile icon, navigate to Settings, and under the General section, select Interests. Here, choose both Remove game interests and Remove app interests.

After completing these steps, it’s advisable to delete all data for the Play Store app and uninstall its updates to ensure that your changes take effect and are not overridden by existing local data.
Following this guide will help tailor your Google Play Store to present apps that are more aligned with your interests, ultimately enhancing your experience in discovering new and relevant content. If you’re still encountering challenges in finding suitable apps and games, consider applying advanced search techniques to improve your results.
