Upcoming Server Slam Test for Marathon Ahead of Launch
Marathon, the highly anticipated title from Bungie, is gearing up for its official release on March 5, 2026. Just before this launch, Bungie will conduct a Server Slam Test to test their servers, scheduled from February 26 to March 2. This announcement was made during yesterday’s State of Play, where a new gameplay trailer was also unveiled.
Details of the Server Slam Test
During the event, game director Joe Ziegler streamed gameplay alongside well-known Twitch personalities TheBurntPeanut and Gingy, presenting an in-depth look at Marathon’s gameplay mechanics and narrative.
What to Expect from the Test
The Server Slam Test invites players on PS5 and PC to participate for free, with no prior sign-up necessary. Participants will explore two distinct zones: Perimeter and Dire Marsh, gaining experience in Marathon’s survival gameplay features. Players can also try out all six standard Runner shells, along with the exclusive seventh Rook shell tailored for solo gameplay.
Additionally, the test will allow players to engage with the first five contracts available in the game, providing a sneak peek into the early stages of the Marathon experience. Those who take part in the Server Slam will receive a unique emblem and player banner as a reward when the full game is released.
Exclusive In-Game Features for PS Plus Members
In a recent development, Bungie announced the introduction of unique weapon charms inspired by popular titles from other PlayStation Studios. These charms will be accessible to PS Plus subscribers and are designed after Helldivers 2, Ghost of Yotei, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

The Future of Marathon and Bungie
As Marathon approaches its release on March 5, 2026, it will be intriguing to see whether Bungie can draw from the current popularity of the extraction shooter genre. Given the studio’s recent challenges, the success of this title could play a pivotal role in shaping its future direction in the gaming industry.
