Aqua Computer Introduces Ampinel: A Solution to 16-Pin GPU Power Connector Melting

Aqua Computer has made a significant advancement in addressing a common problem that GPU users face with the 16-pin power connector. The newly launched device, named “Ampinel, ”is designed to manage load distribution effectively, thereby reducing the risk of melting that often plagues these connectors.

Initially scheduled for release in November 2025, the launch of Ampinel faced delays due to enhancements in its feature set. This led to an increase in price from the original 80 Euros to 100 Euros, reflecting the added development efforts. Ampinel competes with other protective devices on the market, such as WireView Pro II, known for safeguarding graphics cards from power connector issues.

While Ampinel does not offer real-time monitoring capabilities like its competitors, it excels in “Load Balancing, ”a feature that evenly distributes current across all pins, significantly mitigating overheating risks. This is particularly beneficial for high-performance NVIDIA RTX GPUs, including models like the RTX 5090 and 4090, as well as other GPUs utilizing the 12V-2×6 connector configuration.

One main challenge with GPUs is the discrepancy in current draw across pins stemming from poor contact. This mismanagement is a leading cause of overheating and connector failure. Fortunately, Ampinel addresses this issue effectively and even provides users with optional software for monitoring and customization tasks.
