Amazon’s “God of War”TV Series Casting Updates
The anticipation surrounding Amazon’s upcoming God of War TV series continues to build, with exciting casting announcements rolling in. Following the news of two new cast members yesterday, reports from Variety have confirmed that Alastair Duncan will reprise his role as Mimir. Additionally, Danny Woodburn, known for his roles in Seinfeld and 90210, and Jeff Gulka, recognized from The X-Files and Once Upon a Time, will portray the dwarf brothers Brok and Sindri, respectively.
New Additions to the Cast
Duncan, Woodburn, and Gulka mark the sixth, seventh, and eighth cast members announced, following the reveal of Ryan Hurst as Kratos. Other notable cast additions include Teresa Palmer as Sif, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, and Mandy Patinkin, who will take on the role of Odin, succeeding Richard Schiff from God of War Ragnarok.
January Casting Frenzy
All these announcements have taken place throughout January 2026, starting with Ryan Hurst’s casting announcement just two weeks ago. While additional cast details are yet to be disclosed, there is a sense of urgency as Amazon appears poised to finalize the cast ahead of filming, which is set to commence in March 2026.
Remaining Characters and Future Announcements
With Duncan, Woodburn, and Gulka firmly in place, the focus now shifts to the remaining casting decisions for pivotal characters like Freya, Baldur, and Atreus. Other characters may be introduced as the information about the plot direction becomes clearer, though speculation surrounding roles such as Tyr, Magni, Modi, Freyr, Thrúd, and Angrboda remains premature until more details emerge.
What We Know About the Show’s Direction
Currently, showrunner Ronald D. Moore plans to draw from the Norse mythology-focused video games released in 2018 and 2022. However, character descriptions shared in Variety’s coverage offer no substantial new insights, particularly for those familiar with the games. As fans await further information, the collaboration between Amazon, PlayStation Productions, and Moore remains a focal point for excitement and expectation.
The Potential for Motherhood in Narrative
While the series is heavily anchored in the Norse mythos, fans are eager for potential nods to Kratos’ storied past in Olympus. The show’s narrative is likely to touch upon Kratos’ history, raising questions about which other characters might find their way into the series. As such, audiences are hopeful for more definitive information soon.
