CM Punk should ditch commentary and play a new role for a big match at WrestleMania 40, suggests ex-WWE writer
In a recent statement, ex-WWE writer Vince Russo recommended that CM Punk should remove his headset and instead consider a different role for The Second-City Saint at WrestleMania 40.
The Best in the World, known as CM Punk, made an appearance in his hometown of Chicago during the latest episode of Monday Night RAW. The 45-year-old wrestler engaged in a promo showdown with both Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins. During the exchange, the Scottish Psychopath suggested that the closest Punk would get to experiencing a ‘Mania moment this year would be by joining the commentary team.
Despite his injured right arm, Rollins stated that The Straight Edge Superstar would not be able to serve as a “Special Guest Referee”for his World Heavyweight Championship match against McIntyre in Philadelphia. However, the former AEW star demonstrated his ability to officiate by counting to three with his other arm. Punk later announced that he would instead be a “guest commentator”for the highly anticipated World Heavyweight Title clash at The Showcase of the Immortals.
Vince Russo, a former WWE writer, made a strong argument on The Brand for CM Punk to be chosen as the special guest referee for the upcoming showdown between The Visionary and The Scottish Psychopath.
“Is it not right in front of their [WWE] face that Punk needs to be the guest referee, bro? That’s the freaking story!”he said.
The ex-WCW Champion pointed out that had he been in the Gorilla position, he would have instructed the RAW General Manager to announce The Second-City Saint as the guest referee.
“Send out [Adam] Pearce; make him the freaking guest referee… The fact that he’s a commentator, who gives a s**t? Is that gonna sell one more buy, bro, because CM Punk is commentating on the match?”he added. [1:01 – 1:55]
