CM Punk reveals which female WWE star invited him to RAW the night he got thrown out in early 2023
The WWE Universe will always hold CM Punk’s Survivor Series comeback in November 2023 close to their hearts. It marked his first appearance for the sports entertainment giant in nearly ten years. However, before officially rejoining, he did make a backstage visit some time prior.
Despite multiple reports stating that CM Punk was backstage during the April 2023 episode of RAW, it was not until recently that The Second City Saint himself confirmed his presence. According to Punk, he was even invited to the show by former Women’s Champion Bayley. However, as he revealed, he was ultimately asked to leave.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Punk openly discussed a range of subjects, including his highly anticipated return to WWE. The former AEW wrestler also shared about his recent interactions with new talents whom he had not had the chance to meet since departing from the industry in 2014. On a flight, he had the opportunity to converse with Jason Jordan and Liv Morgan, with the latter kindly assisting him in finding his misplaced earphones.
“My friend Bayley messaged me and she’s like, ‘My friend Liv was on the flight with you. She says you were so nice to her. We have a show in Chicago, you should come visit.’ I’m throwing Bayley under the bus now. Yeah it’s all her fault. I laughed because I landed, got on the train, went home. No wife, no dog. I don’t have anything to do. Yeah, I’m gonna go visit my friend Bayley,”Punk recounted.
Despite his “old-timer”status, Punk made it clear that he was still under contract with AEW and was not actively seeking employment with WWE. He simply wanted to catch up with some friends, but unfortunately, he was escorted out before he could do so.
The Second City Saint shared that he had encountered The Miz, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin, among other individuals, who had all shown him kindness.
Vince McMahon’s Attempt to Oust a Former WWE Champion
After CM Punk imitated Vince McMahon saying, “No, get him out of the building,”Ariel Helwani inquired whether the former WWE Chairman had actually made that decision. Punk confirmed that he had.
Helwani then inquired with Punk if he was upset about not being able to spend more time with his previous colleagues, the former WWE Champion.
“No, I expected it,”CM Punk on getting thrown out. “I wasn’t sure Vince was there. I think he was doing stuff remote via Zoom, because this is in between Vince is gone, and now he is back, and I didn’t know the politics of things. Literally, I just went to say ‘hi’ to Bayley, and a few other people.”
Despite this, it ultimately served as a precursor to Punk’s eventual return to the forefront of the pro-wrestling world. He also openly discussed the lawsuit filed against him by Vince McMahon and drew parallels to the tragic events surrounding Chris Benoit.
Since CM Punk’s comeback, there has been a strong demand for his wife AJ Lee to make an on-screen appearance in some capacity. Although The Second City Saint believes it is unlikely to occur, he did provide a positive update.
