CM Punk gives major health update 5 days before WrestleMania
WWE RAW wrestler CM Punk has recently shared an update on his significant injury. This experienced athlete sustained a torn triceps while competing in the Men’s Royal Rumble match in January.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani today, Punk addressed his injury. Despite being fired from All Elite Wrestling, the polarizing figure made a comeback to WWE at Survivor Series in November. In the interview, CM Punk admitted to feeling surprisingly well, but also revealed that the company was keeping him out of WrestleMania as a precautionary measure.
“I feel way better than I think I should. It has given me sort of a false sense of security. And there is very much the hockey player in my head, just like, ‘Oh, you could have made Mania. You could have just taped it up, and you know’. They [WWE] are protecting me against myself, though, which is a welcome change. I’m the one that is trying to push everything based on protocals for ruptured triceps tendons, but they are telling me to pump the brakes,”said CM Punk.
CM Punk on Overcoming Injury in the WWE
The wrestler known as the Second-City Saint also suffered a torn triceps during his tenure with All Elite Wrestling, resulting in several months of absence from the ring. However, he made his comeback on the inaugural episode of Collision last year.
During his interview on The MMA Hour, Punk acknowledged that the injury he sustained while in AEW felt like a rubber band snapping for the first time.
“This one didn’t feel like anything. It didn’t hurt at all; it just felt like a rubber band snapped in my arm. This one, I seldomly use the word agonizing, but this was very painful. It hurt like hell!”he said.
After sustaining the injury at the Royal Rumble, the ex-WWE Champion stated that he remained hopeful as the pain was significantly less compared to previous injuries he had endured.
“It made me optimistic because I was like, ‘Oh, well certainly, I didn’t tear it off of the bone like the other one’. I didn’t know. It hurt, and I knew immediately. I was like, ‘Oh, this isn’t good!”he added.
It will be intriguing to see if CM Punk makes an appearance on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW in Brooklyn, as he is set to serve as the guest commentator for the World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania XL.
