Microsoft Finally Listing Classic Call of Duty Titles on the Store
Microsoft’s gradual integration of Activision’s game library into its subscription services has raised eyebrows, especially given the year-long wait since the acquisition. Recently, however, signs of progress have emerged concerning the classic Call of Duty games developed by Infinity Ward. Fresh listings on the Microsoft Store suggest that these iconic titles might finally be making a return.
New Listings Spark Excitement
On December 9, 2024, an array of Microsoft Store listings surfaced, showcasing some of the original Call of Duty games that initially propelled the franchise into the spotlight. Notably, these listings are distinct from the older Xbox 360 editions. Titles such as Call of Duty and its expansion, Call of Duty 2, alongside the critically acclaimed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from 2007, now feature on the Microsoft Store for PC. Each title is offered at a price of $19.99, aligning with their availability on other platforms such as Steam.
According to the listings, “This a classic Call of Duty experience,”though they do note that certain Xbox Network features, like cross-platform multiplayer and achievements, may not be accessible.
Possible Game Pass Integration
The timing of these listings has stirred speculation about their connection to Xbox Game Pass. Insights from XboxEra indicate that this pattern mirrors the recent addition of titles like Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled to the subscription service. Both of these classic Activision games appeared on the Microsoft Store before their Game Pass inclusion, adhering to the service’s requirements.

However, no announcements have been made regarding additional classic Activision titles.
