Exciting news has emerged for fans of xxxHolic, as the much-anticipated sequel manga is officially slated to recommence serialization in just a few months. Originally serialized from 2003 to 2011, this beloved series, often referred to simply as “Holic,”consists of 19 volumes and was widely popularized by its anime adaptation, which aired from 2006 to 2008 and is currently available on Crunchyroll.
In 2013, CLAMP announced a sequel series titled xxxHolic: Rei, but this continuation faced several interruptions. After experiencing a hiatus from July 2014 to April 2015, it sporadically resumed serialization, only to ultimately go on indefinite hiatus in March 2017.
Now, the series is confirmed to come back on April 21, 2025, as part of Kodansha’s Young Magazine. Although CLAMP expressed their desire to return to serialization as early as 2022, fans are still awaiting updates on whether the new chapters will be released weekly, monthly, or at another cadence.
The narrative of xxxHolic centers around Kimihiro Watanuki, a young man plagued by supernatural entities that are invisible to everyone but him. His chance encounter with Yuuko Ichihara, a mysterious witch, leads him to becoming her assistant as they navigate the tangled world of the supernatural.
