Civilization 7 Guide: Steps to Successfully Build Factories

As a new Age dawns in Civilization 7, players must adapt to significant changes in gameplay dynamics. In the Modern Age, a central focus shifts towards developing an extensive Rail Network and acquiring Factory Resources, which are crucial for enhancing empire yields and achieving diverse bonuses.

With Factory Resources taking precedence over traditional City and Bonus Resources, it becomes imperative for players to grasp their application and integration within settlements. This guide aims to elucidate these essential mechanics.

In order to utilize Factory Resources, players must establish a Factory within their settlements. However, this crucial building is not available immediately upon entering the Modern Age; players need to undertake specific technological research first.

Unlocking the Factory building requires players to research the Mass Production Technology. This tech becomes accessible in the Modern Age, but only after players have already unlocked Military Science and one of the following: Industrialization or Combustion.

Moreover, Factories can only be constructed in settlements that have a direct railroad connection to the Capital. Therefore, before players embark on constructing multiple Factories, they must first establish a Rail Network. This involves upgrading roads by building a Rail Station. For players who need guidance on setting up the Rail Network in Civ 7, consider exploring these helpful resources:

Once players have successfully connected their settlement to the Capital and built their first Factory, the opportunity to assign Factory Resources becomes available. Resource allocation is activated upon acquiring a new Factory Resource.

Upon accessing the Resources menu, players need to select a Factory Resource to designate it to a specific settlement. The chosen resource will be displayed in the Resources bar as well as adjacent to the Factory icon on the right side, indicating the product of that settlement’s factory. It’s important to note that players can assign only one type of Factory Resource to each settlement. However, they have the option to place multiple instances of that resource to amplify the associated bonuses.
