Civilization 7 presents unique gameplay dynamics across its various Ages. In the initial phases, particularly the Antiquity and Exploration Ages, players can pursue Legacy Paths that provide significant advantages as they transition into the Modern Age, where victory becomes attainable.
To embark on the Science Legacy Path during the Antiquity Age, players must collect and showcase a series of Codices. However, the progression towards achieving a scientific Golden Age is contingent upon having adequate Great Works slots within their empire.
Enhancing Codex Storage in the Antiquity Age
Increasing Codex Capacity in Civ 7

To fulfill the requirements of The Great Library Legacy Path, players need to exhibit a total of 10 Codices within their empire. While the Capital’s Palace accommodates four Codices, it will soon reach capacity, necessitating the creation of additional slots. In the Antiquity Age, constructing Libraries and Academies in cities is essential for increasing Codex capacity in Civ 7.
Since Libraries and Academies are exclusively built in cities, players with numerous Codices who have maxed out their Capital’s slots will need to develop towns into cities. Each Academy provides three Codex slots, while Libraries offer two. As players can only build one of each per city, it’s prudent to construct both. Focusing solely on Academies may lead to exceeding the Settlement Limit, which could adversely affect civilization Happiness.
