Honkai: Star Rail Introduces Cipher, a New Five-Star Character
HoYoVerse has officially revealed the arrival of Cipher, previously known as Cifera, who will be the second five-star character in the much-anticipated 3.3 update of Honkai: Star Rail. This exciting news presents players with two distinct heroines to pursue during the forthcoming phases of the game.
Character Features and Combat Style
Alongside the announcement, intriguing details regarding Cipher’s abilities were shared. Visual hints indicated that she will possess the capability to deal Quantum damage during her attacks. Furthermore, her role will align with the Nihility path, suggesting she will specialize in inflicting debuffs and possibly implementing damage over time effects.
Connection to Honkai Impact 3rd
The character design for Cipher appears to be inspired by the Chrysos Heirs, which are alternate universe representations of the 13 Flame Chasers from Honkai Impact 3rd. Notably, Cipher seems to draw characteristics from Pardofelis, a treasure hunter in that game. This connection is reinforced by their shared cat-inspired aesthetics and a similar brown and gold color palette. Pardofelis is featured in the Elysian Realm shop, where she showcases her treasure-hunting skills, paralleling Cipher’s self-description as a “master thief.”
Upcoming Character Updates
The 3.3 update will not only introduce Cipher but will also bring the character Hyacinthia, also known as Hyacine, who shares the five-star classification. Prior to these new additions, players can look forward to Anaxa (Anaxagoras) and Castorice being featured in the upcoming 3.2 update.
Availability and Future Content
Honkai: Star Rail is currently available on PS5, PC, and mobile platforms. Cipher’s official debut is scheduled with the 3.3 update, with a showcase for version 3.2 expected on March 28, 2025.
