As the release of Chris Brown’s documentary approaches, his long-time collaborator RoccStar expressed concerns to TMZ regarding the negative portrayal of the singer by Investigation Discovery. RoccStar shared his thoughts about Chris Brown:
“I can’t comprehend this. He is genuinely one of the most pleasant and laid-back individuals I know. I see Chris as a friend and feel he’s being unfairly depicted as a victim by those accusing him. It became clear to me that this documentary is not a favorable one. I’m puzzled… Are we now seeking out victims? This is astonishing.”
Additionally, RoccStar referred to Chris Brown as a “family man”and highlighted him as “one of the most accomplished artists of his era.” He went on to assert that “people are just trying to tear him down,” and elaborated:
“He’s an incredible talent. Give him space to be himself… He has become the target here.”
The documentary, titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence, is set to debut on Investigation Discovery on October 27, 2024. It is part of the network’s “No Excuse for Abuse”initiative.
The documentary will also include the account of an unnamed woman who allegedly claims to be the latest victim of the singer.
Chris Brown: A History of Violence will delve into the numerous legal struggles faced by the artist concerning allegations of abuse. The film will review how he has sustained his career success while dealing with various accusations over the years.
The allegations against him date back to 2009 when he faced charges for assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. Since then, he has been confronted with accusations of “offstage aggression,”domestic violence, and sexual assault from multiple women.
According to People Magazine, this upcoming documentary will also highlight the story of a new accuser who has chosen to speak out, though her identity will remain confidential.
The documentary’s producers released a statement regarding Chris Brown: A History of Violence, stating:
“Featuring expert and cultural insights throughout, the documentary offers deep reflections on each survivor’s journey and the psychological toll that follows their trauma.”
Notably, RoccStar has consistently backed Chris Brown, praising him during an earlier interview with AllHipHop in February 2024. He remarked:
“CB doesn’t engage with people in a negative way. It’s significant that he trusts me to help align his creative direction and new ventures he’s pursuing.”
RoccStar and Chris have enjoyed a productive collaboration over the past decade, launching the album X in 2014, and subsequently producing tracks for albums like Indigo in 2019, Breezy in 2022, and 11:11 in 2023.
Recently, the artist concluded his 11:11 tour, which featured notable guests Arya Starr and Muni Long. The tour commenced in June and encompassed performances in cities such as Chicago, Newark, Montreal, Baltimore, and Houston, culminating on August 6, 2024, in Los Angeles.
