Chinese Gaming Laptop Combines GTX 1060 with Intel N95 CPU; Surprising Core i9 12900H and MX550 Configuration in Alternative Model

In the world of gaming laptops, unusual combinations of CPUs and GPUs sometimes emerge, especially when older graphics processing units are involved. This trend has become more visible with recent releases, particularly from manufacturers experimenting with unconventional hardware pairings.

Sakuromoto Launches Unique Gaming Laptops: N95+GTX 1060 and Core i9 12900H+MX550

Like desktop systems, gaming laptops are significantly hindered by mismatched components, where a top-tier GPU paired with a low-performance CPU can cause frame rate drops and gameplay hiccups. However, Sakuromoto, a Chinese manufacturer, seems to be tackling this issue with a balance of outdated technology and entry-level components, possibly recycling older silicon that would otherwise be scrapped.

The first model, dubbed the Inter Book, houses the GeForce GTX 1060, an entry-level GPU dating back to 2016, featuring 6 GB GDDR5 VRAM. This graphics card is coupled with the Intel N95 processor, a low-tier member of the Alder Lake family. Interestingly, the marketing refers to this combination as a “Core i9-class”setup, a claim that raises eyebrows since the N95 does not align with the performance level attributed to Core i9 processors.

In a surprising twist, the display is touted as “4K-class, ”yet it delivers only a 1080p resolution. The claim raises questions about how a standard 1080p screen can be categorized as 4K-class. Nonetheless, the Inter Book aims to revitalize the aging NVIDIA GTX 10 Series GPUs, which serve adequately for basic graphical tasks. While the GTX 1060 can handle games at medium settings in 1080p, the performance potential is limited by the N95’s modest 4-core configuration and its power consumption of just 15W, ensuring significant CPU bottlenecks.

The second model, part of the Rescue series, features an even more perplexing CPU-GPU pairing. Here, the NVIDIA MX550—an entry-level mobile graphics card—joins a high-performance Intel Core i9 12900H processor. While the i9 12900H is a powerhouse, the MX550 is considerably less capable than even the GTX 1060, leaving consumers questioning the rationale behind this stark disconnect in hardware performance.

Despite Sakuromoto doubling the MX550’s VRAM from 2 GB to 4 GB and increasing its thermal design power (TDP) from 25W to 38W, the card still falls short in gaming scenarios, making it more suited for daily tasks like photo and video editing rather than demanding graphical workloads.
