Susie Wiles, the Chief of Staff for U. S.President Donald Trump, has reportedly fallen victim to a serious hacking incident. Her personal phone was compromised, allowing the intruder to access a wealth of sensitive contacts, including several prominent officials. In response to this breach, federal authorities have initiated an investigation, although the exact method of how her phone was hacked remains unclear.

Suspicion Arises as Hackers Attempt to Redirect Conversations to Telegram

After gaining unauthorized access to Wiles’ personal device, the attackers employed artificial intelligence to mimic her identity, sending both voice and text messages to contacts from a different phone number. The situation escalated when the impersonator suggested shifting their conversations to the messaging app Telegram, prompting many recipients to suspect foul play. FBI Director Kash Patel reinforced the severity of such security threats in a statement to CBS News, highlighting the FBI’s commitment to protecting the administration’s cybersecurity.

“The FBI takes all threats against the President, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness; safeguarding our administration officials’ ability to securely communicate to accomplish the President’s mission is a top priority.”

Regarding the breach, TechCrunch inquired about the possibility of a compromised cloud account or if the hacking incident involved sophisticated government-grade spyware. However, the White House spokesperson, Anna Kelly, did not provide any substantial updates, leaving many questions unanswered as the investigation continues.

This marks a second hacking attempt targeting Wiles; a previous incident occurred in 2024 involving Iranian cyber-espionage agents who sought access to her personal email. Allegedly, they succeeded in breaching her security, acquiring sensitive information, including details on Vice President JD Vance, who was running alongside Trump at that time.

Interestingly, it has been noted that Wiles uses an iPhone, a device typically valued for its security features. This fact raises additional concerns about the efficacy of such protective measures in high-stakes environments.
