Cheryl Cole Honors Liam Payne and Son Bear with Tribute Photo, Calls His Passing an “Earth Shattering” Event
Cheryl Cole is mourning the loss of her ex-partner, Liam Payne, who tragically passed away recently. Liam, known for his role in One Direction and as the father of their son, Bear, was found deceased in his hotel room in Buenos Aires. The 31-year-old singer died on Wednesday, October 16, after falling from the balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel situated in Palermo, a trendy area of the Argentine capital.
Authorities reported that the fall resulted in severe injuries, including multiple traumas and internal bleeding, with a fractured skull being a critical factor in his death, according to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s office.
Following the tragedy, on Friday, October 18, 2024, Cheryl took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late star. She shared a heartfelt black-and-white photograph of Liam with their newborn son, Bear, capturing an intimate moment. In her poignant caption, she expressed her “grief”and reminded her followers of the gravity of the situation, stating:
“As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief during this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.”
Cheryl continued to reflect on Liam’s character, highlighting not just his success as a musician but also his roles as a son, brother, uncle, and father. She expressed her heartache for Bear, who now faces life without his father:
“Liam was more than just a pop star; he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a beloved friend, and the father to our 7-year-old son. A son who now has to confront the harsh truth of never seeing his father again.”
Cheryl and Liam’s relationship lasted nearly two years before they parted ways in 2018. They welcomed Bear Grey into the world in 2017, sharing the joyous news through an Instagram Polaroid image of Liam holding their baby.
Cheryl Cole calls for an end to “abhorrent reports”following Liam Payne’s passing
In her Instagram post, which marks her first public comments on Liam’s untimely death, Cheryl criticized the despicable media coverage that has surfaced since the event. She urged the press to cease their “abhorrent reports and media exploitation”for her son’s sake. She penned:
“What troubles me most is that one day Bear will come across these abhorrent reports and the media exploitation we have witnessed in the last couple of days. It breaks my heart to know I cannot shield him from that in the future.”
Cheryl and Liam diligently kept their son’s life away from public scrutiny. While they occasionally share glimpses of him online, they primarily choose to protect his privacy by showing only partial images of him—like his back or hands. In her message, Cheryl implored the media to think carefully and avoid bringing “further harm”to those left behind in the wake of Liam’s death:
“I am asking you to reflect on what purpose some of these reports truly serve, other than to inflict more pain on those left trying to piece their lives back together. Before making comments or creating videos, consider whether you would want your own child or family to see what you’ve produced.”
Cheryl concluded her heartfelt message by asking everyone to “bestow on Liam the dignity he deserves”in death, allowing him the peace he finally needs.
Recent updates about Liam Payne’s death reveal that the forensic experts have identified 25 distinct injuries on his body, compatible with a fall from a significant height, as reported by Fox News.
