Early Access Announcement for Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone
Polish studio The Farm 51 has revealed that their anticipated title, Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, will enter early access on March 6. Currently, the game is actively raising funds on Kickstarter, allowing backers to support its development. Alongside this announcement, the team has released an engaging CGI story trailer that provides a first look at the game’s narrative elements.
A Glimpse into the Story
The narrative revolves around Cole Grey, a former military operative who navigates a world heavily reliant on a unique substance known as Chernobylite. This material has catalyzed remarkable advancements in human civilization, yet the dark side of this progress is profound unemployment, which forces characters like Cole into societal margins.
Struggling financially, Cole teams up with a shadowy group known as the ‘Planewalker’ initiative, seeking stability for his family. However, he soon discovers that a scarcity of Chernobylite compels this initiative to engage in ethically dubious practices, including venturing into parallel dimensions to procure more of the resource by any means necessary.
Moreover, the Planewalker services require troubling genetic alterations. To boost his physical and mental prowess, Cole must assimilate Chernobylite’s essence, leading him to lose aspects of his humanity. Faced with no alternatives, he reluctantly commits to this perilous journey, landing him in the notorious Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. There, he encounters the ominous Black Stalker, the Zone’s ruthless overseer, as he strives to find a way back home.
Kickstarter Campaign Progress
So far, the Kickstarter campaign for Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone has been thriving. With just under a week remaining, the project has surpassed its initial funding goal and successfully unlocked several stretch goals. These include a first-person combat mode, the return of weaponry from the original Chernobylite, customization options for weapons, and new locations for both single-player and cooperative gameplay.
Upcoming stretch goals promise exciting features such as a customizable interface available in both first-person and third-person views, along with a tailored dialogue camera.
