How to Use Cheats in The Sims 4: Life & Death
Before diving into cheats in The Sims 4, it’s essential to activate testing cheats. Although not every cheat requires this step, activating it is generally recommended for optimal gameplay.
To enable testing cheats, press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC/Mac, or simultaneously hold down all four shoulder buttons on Xbox/PlayStation. This will display the cheat console where you can type testingcheats true. If successful, a notification will confirm that cheats are now active, allowing you to use various cheats simply by entering them and pressing enter.
To disable testing cheats, open the console again and type testingcheats false. A notification will indicate that cheats have been turned off.
Using console and debug cheats comes with minimal risk, as these features are developer-supported. Nevertheless, it’s wise to back up your favorite saves regularly to avoid any potential issues.

Life & Death Skill Cheats
The expansion introduces the new skill of Thanatology, focusing on the study of death from both scientific and humanistic perspectives. This minor skill consists of five levels and interacts uniquely with newly added careers.
To advance a Sim’s Thanatology skill, use the cheat:
Stats.Set_Skill_Level Minor_Thanatology [X]
Simply replace [X] with a number from 1 to 5 to instantly set the active Sim’s Thanatology skill to your desired level.
Life & Death Career Cheats
Two new careers are introduced in this expansion: Undertaker and Reaper. The Undertaker role follows the traditional career progression with two branches, while the Reaper role offers an active gameplay experience.

Life & Death Ghost Mastery Cheats
Ghost Mastery expands the capabilities of playable ghosts, establishing a skill tree similar to those found in other occult characters like vampires or werewolves. This allows for unique skills and powers as ghosts progress.
If you wish to bypass the gradual progression, utilize this cheat to instantly gain Ghost Mastery XP:
Stats.set_stat rankedstatistic_ghostpowers_ghostxp [X]
Replace [X] with the desired XP amount to achieve that level of mastery. Here are the XP requirements for each tier of Ghost Mastery:
- Tier 1: Wispling (default upon becoming a ghost)
- Tier 2: Ethereal Novice = 500XP
- Tier 3: Phantasmal Ascendant = 1,000XP
- Tier 4: Spectral Luminary = 1,600XP
- Tier 5: Transcendent Wraith = 3,000XP
In total, reaching Tier 5 requires a cumulative 6,100 XP, with further XP to be gained for skill tree mastery. The maximum XP achievable remains uncertain, but updates will be provided as new information arises.
Life & Death Bucket List Cheats
The Bucket List feature adds another layer of engagement for Sims at the Young Adult stage, presenting various activities linked to their personalities. These activities can develop automatically or be created via computer interactions.
Upon a Sim’s death, any existing Bucket List objectives transform into Unfinished Business. Although currently there is no console cheat to select specific objectives, debug cheats allow for some interactive customization.
With testing cheats enabled, use Shift + Click on the Sim to access and modify their Bucket List via: Pack Cheats > Expansion Packs > EP17 Life & Death > Add Unfinished Business Objective. From here, you can select new objectives from a pop-up menu.
As of this writing, while you can add objectives through debug cheats, the ability to remove them is not available. However, resetting the entire Bucket List through gameplay is possible, albeit this action clears all existing objectives.
