S Tier Overview

The S Tier boasts the most formidable characters in Chaos Zero Nightmare at launch. While determining the absolute best character can be subjective, a few names stand out.

Hugo (5-Star Order Ranger) is often considered a top contender, delivering exceptional single-target damage and gaining extra turns through his robust passive abilities, making him a versatile addition to virtually any team. Standing alongside him is Khalipe (5-Star Instinct Vanguard), a formidable tank who pairs high defense with devastating area-of-effect attacks. Although some of her stronger moves require significant resources, she thrives with the right support.

Surprisingly, Mika (4-Star Justice Controller) shines as the best healing support character, despite the presence of a premium healer, Orlea. Her unparalleled buffs and AP recovery ability make her an invaluable addition to numerous team compositions.

Completing the S Tier are two more talented DPS characters: Mei Lin (5-Star Passion Striker), a self-reliant single-target specialist who excels when paired with a support character sharing her Passion attribute, and Kayron (5-Star Void Psionic), a multi-specialist DPS capable of inflicting massive damage while synergizing effortlessly with various support characters.

A Tier Analysis

The A Tier includes a diverse array of characters, making it the most populated tier in Chaos Zero Nightmare.

Notably, Haru (5-Star Justice Striker) makes her mark as the game’s first limited-time banner character. Unlike typical gacha releases designed for maximum impact, Haru is adept at multiple roles, though her AP-costly deck prevents her from entering the S Tier.

Another remarkable character in this tier is Nia (4-Star Instinct Controller).Despite her lower damage potential, her ability to grant team-wide Extra Attacks positions her as one of the most advantageous support characters.

If you need a sub-DPS, Veronica (5-Star Passion Ranger) is your go-to option, using unique summons to deal damage as her attacks trigger at the end of each turn—no other character offers such a distinctive deck.

For players seeking shielding specialists, Magna (5-Star Justice Vanguard) is a robust tank with excellent shield and debuff capabilities, while Maribell (4-Star Passion Vanguard) also shines in this role but with better offensive capabilities. Both characters make excellent early-game picks.

Lastly, the A Tier is rounded out by a mix of unique characters like Rin (5-Star Void Striker), who is a powerful boss killer, Selena (4-Star Passion Ranger) with dual DPS and support abilities, and Tressa (4-Star Void Psionic), praised as one of the best early-game free units.

B Tier Insights

In many gacha games, B Tier units are often lesser 4-Star characters, but Chaos Zero Nightmare defies this trend by showcasing powerful characters that require strategic handling.

For instance, Cassius (4-Star Instinct Controller) and Orlea (5-Star Instinct Controller) have great support potential but can falter due to their reliance on chance. While Orlea’s versatile kit shines, the effectiveness of both characters can often hinge on RNG.

Renoa (5-Star Void Hunter) yields high damage capabilities, although playing her optimally involves precise timing and a bit of luck.Beryl (4-Star Justice Ranger) shows promise as a DPS character but requires careful timing to unleash her strongest attacks.

Rei (4-Star Void Controller), the game’s initial free unit, offers versatile buffs and healing but may struggle in more complex team compositions.

C Tier Overview

Assigning characters to the C Tier in Chaos Zero Nightmare feels somewhat unfair since each character excels under specific conditions and team configurations. However, a few characters stand out at the lower end of the meta.

Luke (5-Star Order Hunter) is an interesting case. Although designed for endgame content, he may struggle elsewhere until he’s adequately built, as his DPS relies on achieving a high Crit Chance.

Owen (4-Star Passion Striker), a free starter unit, is solid across all roles but doesn’t particularly excel in any area compared to more powerful units in the meta.

Lastly, Amir (4-Star Order Vanguard), another guaranteed freebie, is rather effective in shielding but falters in damage-dealing, making it difficult for her to fulfill the dual role she is supposed to play in team settings.
