Chained Echoes: Discover All Pool of Power Locations in Ashes of Elrant

I recently played through the DLC for Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant, and my experience was a blend of anticipation and curiosity, particularly regarding the unresolved plot threads from the original game. While I found the storytelling somewhat lacking, the added gameplay features significantly enhanced the overall experience.

This JRPG expansion brings a variety of new elements to the table, including an engaging fishing minigame and a Talent mechanic that adds depth to party interactions. One of the standout features is the introduction of Pools of Power, special locations scattered throughout the game that provide substantial boosts to the player’s abilities when discovered.

When players come across a Pool of Power, they receive a notification indicating that damage dealt has increased, while damage taken has decreased. While I would prefer detailed stats, the enhancements are certainly welcome. In total, there are 17 Pools of Power available across the outskirts of Elrant. If players aim to challenge the intimidating superbosses, it’s advisable to locate all these pools first. Below is a comprehensive guide detailing the locations of each Pool of Power in Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant.

Mushroom Forest

Pool of Power #1

Upon exiting the makeshift scientist camp in Mushroom Forest, you’ll enter a new expanse of woods where you’ll encounter a crystal that activates a new warp point.

From the crystal, move eastward, dive into the water, and head north to locate three small waterfalls. You can scale the far-right waterfall to discover your first Pool of Power.

Pool of Power #2

In the Mushroom Forest’s third area, you must break down a dam to progress. Once completed, two small bridges will become accessible to the east.Take the southernmost bridge.

You will notice a scientist positioned above you. Climb to her location and traverse the platforms until you come to a split path. Choose the western pathway.

Look for a cave below, ascend the stairs, and follow the trail past a fishing area until you reach another cave.Inside, head west immediately to find the second Pool of Power.

Pool of Power #3

After completing the Lost Gardens quest, you will gain access to your Sky Armor in previously explored sections, including Mushroom Forest. Use a warp point or your airship to return.

In your Sky Armor, proceed to the southeastern corner of the forest to access the final section. Here, numerous wooden bridges await you, but you can only land your Sky Armor slightly to the north. Walk across the bridge heading south.

As you navigate, you will encounter a chicken monster. Defeat it and quickly jump back into your Sky Armor to combat four platypuses that follow, as taking them on foot can be fatal. After defeating them, the Pool of Power will be yours.

Elrant Dungeon

Pool of Power #4

After experiencing the penance of your party members, it’s time to locate a way out of the Elrant Dungeon. Defeating key-shaped soldiers across various floors is necessary for unlocking your skills.

On the fifth floor, two exits become evident. Choose the right staircase rather than the one leading to an exterior window. Ascend to the sixth floor to find the Pool of Power awaiting you.

Lost Gardens

Pool of Power #5

First, obtain the Shack Key. To do so, use your Sky Armor to fly to a remote area within the Mushroom Forest and uncover a chest hiding the key.

Once you possess the key, fast travel to the initial warp point in the Lost Gardens and head slightly west to access the door secured by the Shack Key. Traverse the shack into a new area.

After fending off some enemies, head north along the path until you discover the Pool of Power.

There’s a task on the Reward Board requiring you to defeat four queens in a single battle.

Deadlands

Pool of Power #6

The main narrative will prompt you to visit either the Deadlands or the Wastelands. My initial choice was the Deadlands, so this section will reflect that decision.

Upon arriving, take the first path north, then head west when the trail branches. The map will indicate a strip of land directly to your right.

An invisible bridge exists here, likely revealed by a nearby collectible. Take a leap to cross over and discover the Pool of Power beyond.

Pool of Power #7

In the third area of the Deadlands, players will have the opportunity to create the Water of Life, essential for unlocking new paths in the story.

After clearing some debris and gaining the ability to swim, head toward the western section of the area.Based on the map, locate a marked spot to use the Water of Life. This will purify the river and grant access to the Pool of Power.

Afterward, enjoy a swim east and north until you arrive at another area with an empowered pool.

Pool of Power #8

While traversing the invisible bridge from the first to second areas, you can opt for the west path to access a region filled with magma and lava. Here, pay attention to the platforms that rise and fall, and wait for the path to clear.

However, you may encounter a lava blockage. Admittedly, I felt a blend of frustration and amusement during this part. Nearby, you will find blowfish enemies called Water Balloons in the lava.

To proceed, hit but do not kill a Water Balloon. If executed correctly, they will use Puff All Day on their first turn. Wait until their turn arrives again, and they will trigger Water Explosion, resulting in their death but freezing the lava and clearing a path for you.

Utilizing this strategy, you can navigate through the lava and reach the final Pool of Power in the Deadlands. Additionally, explore the west side for the Smallish Ingredients, which are essential for crafting the Minimi Potion and unlocking additional secret areas, including new Pools of Power.

Wastelands

Pool of Power #9

If you’ve already collected Pool of Power #5 in the Lost Gardens, you now possess the Shack Key and have accessed part of that zone. You’ll be able to reach the Wastelands via the secret area in the gardens.

Navigate the labyrinth in the Lost Gardens by keeping to your right until you exit at the easternmost end.You’ll need to go through a cave, and upon exiting, you’ll come upon an isolated area in the Wastelands, where the Pool of Power is located.

Pool of Power #10

To access this Pool of Power, you’ll need the Lost Key, which can be found in the Mushroom Forest. It’s located near Pool of Power #3; instead of heading south, take a left and walk west to find a chest positioned near three sleeping Platypus that contains the Lost Key.

Return to the first warp point in the Deadlands. East of there, you will encounter a locked house, which can be accessed using the Lost Key. Inside, a purple orb will allow you to change its color, thereby altering the house’s location.

You’re aiming for the green orb. Change its color and exit the house, revealing a Pool of Power just outside.

Pool of Power #11

To locate this Pool of Power, start by obtaining the Cute Lantern from the Gothic Girl in the Deadlands, whose residence is near a warp point.

Next, return to the Deadlands and fast travel to the first map to investigate a secret passage. I’ve highlighted its location in an earlier screenshot. Within this dark chamber, you’ll find an Anglerfish willing to trade the Cute Lantern for High-Quality Bait.

Next, travel to Elrant City and offer the bait to the only NPC fishing at the Fishing Guild. In return, he will present you with a Sieve. Return to the Deadlands and proceed to locate a gold digger (also illustrated in the previous screenshot), accessible only via your Sky Armor.Give him the Sieve to acquire a Canvas.

With the Canvas in hand, visit the northern area of the Deadlands to meet a painter (marked on the map); hand over the Canvas to gain access to the Pool of Power.

Elrant City

Pool of Power #12

To find this Pool of Power, you will need the Sewerage Key, located in the Wastelands’ second zone. After acquiring your Sky Armor, glide over the shifting sands to locate a chest in the designated area on the map.

Next, travel to Elrant City’s northern side and unlock the southern house.This will allow you to access the city’s sewer system and swim through it. Follow the sole available path.

The first ladder leads to a weapon chest for Leonar, and the second leads to a bar.Your aim is to reach the third ladder, which grants you access to Elrant City’s Pool of Power.

Pool of Power #13

For the subsequent two Pools of Power in Elrant City, you’ll need to concoct the Minimi Potion. The Smallish Ingredients required can be found near the volcano in the Deadlands. Reference Pool of Power #8 for more details.

Craft the Minimi Potion in the Brewery Room in Elrant City. Ensure you have a Talent for this; if you’ve advanced in the game, this should already be unlocked as it is necessary for the main storyline.

Once you possess the Minimi Potion, seek out any bench in Elrant City and interact with it. Consuming the potion will miniaturize you, enabling novel interactions with certain animals.

Using the waypoint on Elrant City’s south side, head towards the bridge in the north and engage with a fish. This interaction will transport you to the ocean floor, where you will finally discover this Pool of Power.

Pool of Power #14

To find this Pool of Power, repeat the same miniaturization process detailed above.This time, navigate through a series of small trapdoors on Elrant City’s east side until reaching the roof.

Upon reaching the roof, interact with a bird to be carried to its nest. Here, amidst the trunks of massive trees, you will find three chests and yet another Pool of Power.

Sky Isles

Pool of Power #15

Chained Echoes Ashes of Elrant All Pools of Power Locations (66)

Upon accessing either the Deadlands or Wastelands, a new Talent called Call Airship is unlocked.This ability costs 100 Party Points and allows you to summon the airship from any location in Elrant. Once activated, you can explore the overworld freely.

In the southeastern portion of the overworld, you will encounter a Sky Isle filled with cat monsters (some of which can be deadly), as well as various chests and a Pool of Power.

Follow the determined path until you engage with four black cats. After the battle, ascend the small incline and head eastward to find a ledge from which you can drop. Continue pursuing the path by hopping from hill to hill until you reach the Pool of Power.

Old Town

Pool of Power #16

Use fast travel to reach the last waypoint in the Deadlands, located in the northwest of the map. Proceed east and north around the bend where the land meets a corner.This will bring you into the Old Town.

Explore as much as possible by entering each home, descending through levels as you go. Ultimately, you will arrive on the bottom floor, where the Pool of Power awaits you.

Pool of Power #17

This final Pool of Power is the most challenging to access. First, you must create the Slow Digestion XL potion, which requires finding the Digested Ingredients in a chest located in the Wastelands, accessible via your Sky Armors. Use the map images from earlier for guidance.

Brew the potion in Elrant City, then return to the Wastelands’ initial area. In the open field, you will encounter a worm NPC who warns that attempting to face the sandworms on foot will result in being swallowed whole. This took me a moment to comprehend.

Your objective is to confront the nearby sandworms on foot and simply wait for your turn.You will indeed be swallowed, but the Slow Digestion XL potion will keep you alive.

After battling through the monster’s insides, you’ll find yourself in a secret section of the Old Town, where the final Pool of Power awaits, along with a Collector’s Coin.
