One of the exciting additions in Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant is an engaging fishing minigame, reminiscent of classics like Breath of Fire 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. This feature not only provides a break from intense exploration but also serves as a means to acquire loot that can be transformed into valuable Deals and access items offered by two shopkeepers within the Fishing Guild.
Fishing Spots are primarily located along the main path but some are cleverly concealed within the landscape. Moreover, there exists a secret fish, which yields essential loot for obtaining top-tier weapons for the characters Siena and Egyl. If you aim to master fishing in Elrant, follow this guide to discover all fishing spot locations in Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant.
Note: Fishing Spots will be categorized by area; however, some may only be accessible after acquiring the Sky Armor or advancing further into the game.
Fishing Skills Overview
To initiate fishing, players need to allocate 20 Party Points towards their Talents. Once this is done, it’s simply a matter of finding a fishing location to engage in the minigame. A helpful tutorial guides players on selecting suitable bait for different fish and how to reel them in efficiently.
As your Fishing level progresses, four unique skills can be unlocked, enhancing your fishing potential and enabling access to additional vendors in the Fishing Guild:
Fishing Level | Ability | Description |
---|---|---|
3 | Auras unlocked | Occasionally, fish will appear with an aura. Catching such fish activates the aura, with a total of four auras available but only one in use at a time. |
5 | Second Fishing Guild Vendor Unlocked | A new NPC selling smithing items will be available in the Fishing Guild. |
7 | Fisherman’s Intuition | Earn additional bonus points per successful catch, aiding in leveling up fishing skills. |
10 | Final Fishing Guild Vendor Unlocked | The most valuable items will be offered by an NPC in the Fishing Guild. |
If you find that a specific fish isn’t spawning at a site, you can use the Rest button to refresh the fishing options. Depending on the fish, you might need to try refreshing ten or twenty times, but patience pays off as they will eventually appear.

Warning: During the writing of this guide, a game update reset my Fish Type progress, indicating 6/46 even though my Fishing level is 10, with all Fishing Spots unlocked.
Catching the Blob Fish
To catch the elusive Blob Fish, you must visit the Fishing Guild, where an NPC will inform you that one additional fish will spawn after catching them all. In reality, you only need to catch 45 out of the 46 available fish, as the Blob Fish is the last one to find.
To maximize your chances, I recommend waiting at a fishing location until different fish begin to surface. I tried this and succeeded in capturing the Blob Fish. While I believe any fishing spot can potentially yield this unique catch, I opted for the first spot in Mushroom Forest due to nostalgia. After hitting the Rest button about 20 times, a large fish finally appeared.
I used a smaller fish as bait to lure the Blob Fish, which turned out to be quite challenging yet manageable to reel in. Successfully catching it granted me the Broken Heart item, valuable for acquiring the most potent Gunspear and Katana Deals, in addition to completing a Reward Board tile.
