The unveiling of new titles from established franchises has inspired developers and publishers to consider the potential benefits of revisiting beloved IPs, with Sony prominently in the spotlight. In a recent discussion with Famitsu, PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst indicated that Sony is “continually exploring”the revival of older IPs. This comment has stirred speculation about possible new titles in franchises that have been largely inactive in recent years, though fans should remain cautiously optimistic.
Industry insider Andy Robinson made waves on VGC: The Video Game Podcast, revealing that Sony is reportedly working on “at least a couple”of projects focused on revitalizing classic IPs. However, it’s crucial to view these claims within the context of numerous previous rumors regarding similar initiatives. For instance, there were ambitious plans to reboot the iconic Twisted Metal franchise to coincide with its live-action adaptation; unfortunately, these plans did not come to fruition. While Sony is indeed considering reviving some IPs, it remains uncertain which specific titles may receive new life.
