Continuing the announcements of Summer Games Fest, another of the main presentations of the fair took place yesterday with the participation of Capcom. Practically following the expected scenario, the Japanese company has focused its announcements on its main franchises, with details for Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter, yes, offering us some surprises such as a special celebration of the 10th anniversary of the classic Dragon’s Dogma, and a brand new IP. .
Even though this is a fairly detailed but short presentation, taking only 35 minutes , we wanted to summarize and separate all the Capcom Showcase announcements individually to make it even easier for you to browse through the various trailers and previews:
Resident Evil 4
Unveiled for the first time just two weeks ago during the Sony State of Play, there was no doubt that this new remake would be one of the main characters of this broadcast. And the thing is, with just over a year before this horror, survival and action title leaves us breathless again on March 24, 2023, it seems like Capcom wants to keep anticipation and hype at the forefront.
Director Yasuhiro Ampo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi discussed a modern reimagining of the 2005 classic, delving into some of the development team’s key points, such as the goal to reinforce key feelings of loneliness and fear of enemies blinded by the fanaticism of the original’s release.
Resident Evil Village
Rumors have been circulating for months now that The Winters’ Expansion has finally been officially announced, the first DLC for the latest entry in this franchise. New content includes a third-person campaign mode, Mercenaries add-on orders with new stages and playable characters Chris Redfield, Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu; and the continuation of the story in Shadows of Rose. This new story takes place 16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village. Rose Winters, the daughter of protagonist Ethan, struggles with her terrifying powers. Players must explore and survive the twisted and mysterious realm of Megamycete consciousness in search of a cure.
On October 28 next year, we will again have full availability for all platforms where the original game was released.
Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7 with improvements
Last but not least, Capcom has revealed that these three games from the saga will be back again with special editions adapted for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, including some technical improvements such as 4K resolution, ray tracing, high frame rates and 3D. audio that will offer us a more vivid, smooth and immersive experience. In addition, these games will have other benefits and technologies from next generation consoles, such as the haptic feedback of the PS5 DualSense controls.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunset
From the hands of Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of the Monster Hunter series, Capcom Showcase has revealed two new trailers for the company’s next expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
So in the first video, we had a general presentation of the title, showing some of the content that will be featured in this DLC, such as new areas to explore, such as the already known jungle (rescued from the second generation of Monster Hunter), new weapons and armor, and, of course, a new line-up of monsters, among which we will find some great wyverns such as Thorns or Gore Magala, as well as several new subspecies.
While that’s not all, and as part of the first batch of the free update, the arrival of the Lunar Nargakuga has already been confirmed for the month of August. In addition, more content is planned for this fall, winter, and next year.
But these were not the only novelties. And the thing is, the company has also released a second video to announce the availability of the first free demo of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which will be available for Nintendo Switch and Steam players from today.
With an innovative and risky new IP, Capcom has just presented us with this game in detail, which will combine the dynamics of hack and slash and shooters to offer us a frenetic competitive survival game. And that is that in this multiplayer mode, two squads of five Exofighters will compete against each other to be the first to carry out orders given by the Leviathan, the sinister artificial intelligence behind the outbreaks and hordes of dinosaurs that now inhabit the cities.
While in many situations players face hordes of dinosaurs, there are others where they face opposing squads directly, and even some where opposing teams must team up to take down common enemies, such as the twisted Neo Tyrannosaurus Rex.
This first trailer showed the set of goals that make up Dino Survival. These include VTOL Defense, where squads protect downed planes from dinosaur attacks, and Omega Charge, which features a massive hammer that the Exofighters will wield to destroy targets. Two Assault-class exosuits have also been introduced that will be available to players: the Barrage, a flaming bomber; and railgun-wielding sniper Vigilant join a growing arsenal of futuristic suits that teams can change on the fly to coordinate and overcome any challenge.
Dogma of the Dragon
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma, an ambitious franchise that has already gone beyond video games and into the literary world and animated series, Capcom has announced that it will be hosting a special celebratory event in honor of the franchise on June 16th in which we will have a random surprise.
Street Fighter 6
Expanding on the latest information provided during this Summer Games Fest, this time the company has given us a new gameplay trailer for their latest playable character: Guile.
Capcom Fighting Collection
Echoing what was shown earlier, the Japanese company reminds us of the contents of this compilation, which will bring together 10 classic fighting games from the company, including the DarkStalkers saga and rarities such as Red Earth. Although, without a doubt, one of the big advantages is the novelty that all games will have a rollback network code in order to be able to enjoy some online games.
Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium
On the other hand, we’ve also returned to see some images of his other great pack, with a selection of 32 classic games that will bring us back (or allow us to visit for the first time) the golden age of Arcade in the 80s.
