“Can’t keep up” – Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian adorably interrupted by baby daughter Adira River while attempting to catch NWSL action

Despite Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian’s attempts to keep up with the NWSL game between Angel City F.C. and KC Currents, his seven-month-old daughter Adira River had different ideas.

Williams, who announced her retirement from professional tennis at the 2022 US Open, welcomed the birth of her baby girl Adira River in August of last year. The 23-time Major winner’s labor was smooth and uncomplicated, unlike her first pregnancy.

Ever since, the co-founder of Reddit and American entrepreneur has been on paternity leave and dedicates a significant portion of his time to his family home in Florida, shared with his wife Serena Williams. The 40-year-old has been taking care of both Adira River and her older sister Olympia while his wife receives postpartum care.

On Saturday (March 30), Ohanian shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he attempted to watch his team Angel City F.C.’s latest soccer match. He humorously mentioned that he struggled to keep up with the commentators’ analysis due to constant interruptions from his daughter Adira River.

The American individual also shared several selfies with their seven-month-old, who was playfully touching their father’s face and beard.

Angel City F.C. Attracts Major Investment from Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian

In the year 2020, Angel City F.C. received investments from Alexis Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams, as well as notable figures including actress Natalie Portman and entrepreneur Julie Uhrman. Ohanian also holds a position on the board of governors for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team.

In 2022, Williams, along with her six-year-old daughter Olympia, shared with the Los Angeles Times her passion for providing women’s sports with a larger platform in the USA, as they both have a stake in the team.

“Ten or 15 years from now, when people look at Angel City FC, I think they’ll actually see this one as being the most obvious. There’s a million people on Twitter right now who are going to say no one watches women’s sports,”Ohanian told the Los Angeles Times. “The message I have for them is facts don’t care about your feelings. The data shows Americans would rather watch two women in the U.S. Open.”

Despite this, Angel City F.C. has not been able to secure a victory in the 2024 NWSL season. The team, based in Los Angeles, has competed in three games so far; their initial match resulted in a 0-1 defeat against Bay City F.C., followed by a 1-1 tie against Orlando Pride.

Despite a spirited challenge from Angel City F.C. on Saturday, the NWSL leaders KC Current emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over the team from Kansas City. Currently ranked at the bottom of the standings, Angel City will face off against the Chicago Red Stars in their next match on April 13th.
