Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 The Tomb Guide – Acquire and Upgrade the Ice Staff

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 The Tomb Guide – Acquire and Upgrade the Ice Staff

The latest update in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for Season 2 has brought forth an exciting addition to the Zombies mode: the Ice Staff. This formidable new Wonder Weapon possesses the ability to freeze adversaries with chilling projectiles and offers the capacity to revive fallen allies, proving essential for surviving against relentless waves of the undead. Mastery of this weapon is crucial for players aiming to delve deep into the narrative of the new map, The Tomb.

Similar to other Wonder Weapons featured in CoD: Black Ops 6, the Ice Staff is exclusive to a single map. In this season, the Ice Staff can only be obtained on The Tomb, which presents players with dark crypts and treacherous, trap-laden corridors filled with the remains of the long deceased beneath an excavation site. Players will face multiple challenges and objectives throughout The Tomb to successfully acquire the Ice Staff during gameplay.

Acquiring The Ice Staff

Confronting New Enemies

Ice Staff in action

To obtain the Ice Staff, players must complete a series of non-linear tasks as the game provides minimal guidance. Start your quest after reaching at least Round 8 in Zombies mode within The Tomb. While there is a chance to acquire the Ice Staff from the Mystery Box or Wonderbar Gobble Gum, the method is random and does not guarantee the desired outcome.

Below are the steps to construct the Ice Staff:

  1. Eliminate a Shock Mimic starting at Round 8.
  2. Collect The Monocle from the defeated Mimic.
  3. Locate the Purple Crystal within the Neolithic Catacombs.
  4. Utilize the Crystal to unveil symbols near the Archer artwork.
  5. Shoot the symbols in Roman numeral order.
  6. Withstand a lockdown and procure the Head Piece.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 at the Bull painting.
  8. Acquire the final Staff part.
  9. Access portals to the Dark Aether Nexus.
  10. Place the Staff Parts on the designated altar.
  11. Survive the lockdown waves to forge the complete Ice Staff.

A unique adversary in CoD: Black Ops 6’s Season 2 is the Shock Mimic, which becomes available after Round 8 in The Tomb. This enemy can appear as common objects, creating an element of surprise. It is best located in the Dark Aether, accessible through the Dark Aether Nexus.

Defeating a Shock Mimic will yield The Monocle, one of the three parts required to build the Ice Staff. After obtaining it, navigate to the Neolithic Catacombs and locate the cave painting of an archer along the stone walls, positioned near the Crafting Table and Perk-A-Cola machine.

The introduction of a new Perk-A-Cola flavor, Death Perception, in Season 2 allows players to see enemies through walls, significantly enhancing survivability while pursuing the Ice Staff.

At the Archer painting, there’s a purple crystal visible in a lantern overhead.Shooting this crystal will shift it above the Crafting Table, unveiling a series of symbols resembling Roman Numerals on the cave wall.

Shoot the Roman Numerals sequentially from 1 to 10 to trigger a constellation pattern that will initiate a Lockdown, summoning waves of powerful enemies, including Armored Zombies. Surviving this trial rewards you with the second component of the Staff, The Head Piece.

Should you struggle during any Lockdown event throughout the Ice Staff crafting process, rest assured that as long as you manage to survive, you can retry as needed.

Head back to the spawn area in The Tomb and explore left to locate the bull painting. Again, adjust the purple crystal until it illuminates the artwork on the wall, revealing another set of Roman Numerals to shoot from 1-10. Completing this will ignite a new Lockdown, which grants you the final Staff part upon completion.

Once all three components are gathered, seek out a portal to the Dark Aether. Within this realm, identify a stone structure surrounded by floating rocks and large pillars.Place all three Staff pieces in the altar to commence a particularly challenging Lockdown. Surviving this final trial will reward you with the Ice Staff.

Enhancing The Ice Staff

Upgrading the Ice Staff

After securing the Ice Staff, players can engage in additional tasks to amplify its capabilities. As zombie challenges escalate, upgrading the Ice Staff becomes increasingly beneficial to withstand the mounting threats. Utilizing the Pack-A-Punch mechanism or Field Upgrades can facilitate this upgrade process.

To enhance the Ice Staff, follow these essential steps:

  1. Shoot all the purple crystals within The Tomb using the Ice Staff.
  2. Navigate to the Dark Aether Nexus.
  3. Shoot three glowing purple stones suspended in the air.
  4. Memorize the symbols on each stone.
  5. Locate the Teleportation Slab in The Tomb.
  6. Target the glowing symbols that correspond to those from the floating stones.
  7. Use the Teleporter.
  8. Chase the purple orb to the Dark Aether Altar.
  9. Collect your upgraded Ice Staff.

Your first challenge is to find and shoot all three purple crystals around The Tomb as quickly as possible, ensuring you utilize the Ice Staff’s ice projectiles exclusively. Once done, proceed to the Dark Aether Nexus and look above for the next part of the mission.

In the Dark Aether, identify floating purple stones among the debris in the atmosphere.Shooting these stones will lower them for better visibility, and be sure to remember their symbols for the next phase of the upgrade process.

Mirroring the layout of The Tomb, the Dark Aether Nexus presents an identical configuration that simplifies locating the necessary elements. As dialogue with Archibald unfolds, proceed to locate a teleportation wall in the Dark Aether.

Since The Tomb reflects the Dark Aether Nexus layout, find the corresponding teleportation wall in the real environment. Here, you’ll discover numerous symbols, but your task is straightforward: use the Ice Staff to shoot the matching symbols you noted from the floating stones.

Successfully completing this will activate the teleporter, forming a luminous portal to traverse.Walk through this portal, then interact with a purple orb awaiting you on the other side in the Dark Aether Nexus. Tracking the orb will lead you, but be prepared to fend off a barrage of Zombies attempting to obstruct your path to the altar where you initially acquired the Ice Staff.

As you successfully eliminate a multitude of challenging enemies along your journey, you will inch closer to your goal. Allow the orb to secure its position at the altar’s center before placing the Ice Staff upon it to finalize its upgrade process.

Capabilities of the Ice Staff

Utilizing Upgrades to Combat Foes and Revive Comrades

Using the Ice Staff

The Ice Staff is capable of launching ice projectiles to freeze adversaries and delivers a large area-of-effect attack to damage or freeze multiple enemies within proximity. This auxiliary attack requires a charging period, so timing is essential to use it effectively while remaining alive. Upgrading the Staff enhances both the freezing and damaging capabilities, making it invaluable against higher-level enemies.

The upgraded variant of the Ice Staff, known as Ull’s Arrow, comes with enhanced powers while retaining most of its original functionalities.

Additionally, the Ice Staff features an alternate firing mode called Sekhmet’s Vigor, enabling instant revival of downed teammates. However, remember that to use this feature, you must actively switch firing modes, meaning you cannot inflict damage and revive allies with the same shot.

Though the journey to unlock and upgrade the Ice Staff involves multiple steps, the weapon stands as one of the most powerful tools available. Securing the Ice Staff is almost mandatory for those eager to uncover all the Easter Eggs hidden within The Tomb in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies mode.
