Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Interface Update: Fixes and Direct Game Launches

Activision is set to revamp the highly criticized Call of Duty HQ launcher interface just in time for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. According to a blog entry, players will experience a more streamlined navigation, eliminating the need to trawl through endless menus or restart the launcher repeatedly to access their desired game or mode, thanks to the new user interface that provides direct links to games and their associated files.

The redesigned interface will feature three primary tabs: Home, All Games, and Store. The Home tab serves as the main hub, providing game tiles for immediate access to titles, discarding the previous format. This tab includes a play button for Black Ops 6, a Last Played tile for quick return to recent gaming sessions, a Featured tile showcasing important content, and a selection of What’s Hot tiles to emphasize new releases from Treyarch.

Under the All Games tab, players will find all Call of Duty titles available since the 2019 Modern Warfare. This feature allows players to launch individual games or make purchases without tedious scrolling, and they can easily manage game files, enabling the deletion of specific components like completed campaigns.

Call of Duty new UI

The Store tab functions precisely as anticipated, providing swift access to Activision’s current promotions for in-game content across all active titles.

Activision outlines that the UI will “develop through three distinct phases,”explained as follows:

Phase 1: Pre-Black Ops 6 Launch (October 21 – October 24)

A transitional phase will occur from October 21 to 24, coinciding with the launch of Black Ops 6. During this interval, the primary Game Tiles on the Home tab will promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone, allowing players to cross-launch into these games. Modern Warfare III will maintain its traditional UI, while Warzone will continue with its legacy interface until the Season 01 update is applied.

The Store tab will redirect players to the full in-game stores of Modern Warfare III and Warzone through cross-launching.

Phase 2: Post-Black Ops 6 Launch (October 25 – TBD)
Upon the debut of Black Ops 6, it will take the place of Modern Warfare III, making Black Ops 6 and Warzone the primary Game Tiles on the Home tab. This change allows players to seamlessly access Black Ops 6 and launch into Warzone with ease.

For those keen to continue their journey in Modern Warfare III, they can do so via cross-launch available on the All Games tab or through the Last Played Tile if it’s the content they’ve recently engaged with.

Players who own Black Ops 6 will find that the Store tab now directs them to the comprehensive in-game store for Black Ops 6.

Black Ops 6 will feature its own user interface designed for effortless navigation to desired modes and content. Access to the Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes will be straightforward, with new features also coming to the gunsmith, playlist selection, and social showcase!

Phase 3: Season 01 (TBD)
With the onset of Season 01, the UI will reach its complete version. Black Ops 6 and Warzone will continue to be the focal Game Tiles on the Home tab, ensuring that players can swiftly access either title for a more efficient gameplay experience.

The Store tab will transition to guiding players to the full in-game stores of both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, tailored to their installations.

A new Battle Pass tab will debut in Season 01, functioning similarly to the Store tab, leading players to the full Battle Pass options in either Black Ops 6 or Warzone. Additionally, Warzone will receive its own updated user interface, reflecting enhancements akin to those found in Black Ops 6’s UI.

Mark your calendars for October 21 when players will begin using this revamped interface, aligning with the official start of pre-loads for Black Ops 6. Notably, the download size for this installment is expected to be significantly reduced compared to earlier series entries, a result of decoupling Warzone from the installation process.
