Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Developers Introduce New Feature for Tracking Challenges

Overview

  • Treyarch is developing a new feature for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 that will allow players to track challenges directly through the game’s user interface (UI).
  • This tracking capability was previously available in 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 but did not transition to Black Ops 6, disappointing many fans.
  • While an exact release date for this much-anticipated feature is still pending, a significant content update is anticipated later this month.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has fans eagerly awaiting a fresh feature from developer Treyarch Studios that will enhance in-game experience by allowing challenge tracking within the UI. Many players expressed their dissatisfaction when they noted the absence of this feature, which was prominently available in Modern Warfare 3 from 2023. Although the timing for the rollout of challenge tracking hasn’t been confirmed, the upcoming arrival of Season 2 of Black Ops 6 later this month offers hope for quick implementation.

On January 9, Treyarch introduced a new update for Black Ops 6, delivering enhancements across Multiplayer and Zombies modes. This patch addressed several user interface and audio bugs while also increasing experience points (XP) rewards for the newly added Red Light, Green Light mode in Multiplayer. However, the most notable adjustments were made to Zombies, where Treyarch listened to community feedback and reverted a change rolled out in early January. Following significant pushback from Zombies enthusiasts, they reinstated previous timing between rounds and the spawning delays of zombies after five consecutive rounds in Directed Mode.

Treyarch Announces Exciting New Feature in Development

Although the latest patch notes did not specifically mention the challenge tracking feature, Treyarch has engaged with players on Twitter, reassuring them that this addition is currently under development. The studio confirmed, “Currently in the works!” in response to a fan inquiry about adding this capability to Multiplayer gameplay.

As players strive to achieve Black Ops 6’s coveted Mastery camos, in-game challenge tracking will significantly alter the gameplay dynamics. If the feature emulates the functionality found in Modern Warfare 3, users will be empowered to select specific challenges—like headshot camos for different weapons—and view a live progress tracker in-game, offering real-time updates without waiting until a match concludes.

Additionally, in a separate interaction with another fan, Treyarch confirmed that they are working on an extensive change for the Zombies mode. A player requested the option for distinct HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies, eliminating the hassle of switching settings between modes. Treyarch responded affirmatively, indicating this feature is also in the pipeline.
