“Caitlin Clark’s probably the GOAT” – Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro & Maria Sakkari share their admiration for American college basketball star

Female tennis players Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, and Emma Navarro have recently shown their admiration for promising basketball sensation Caitlin Clark.

Clark, a player for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is a highly accomplished American in women’s college basketball. She holds the record for the highest number of points scored in the NCAA Division I, the top level of intercollegiate athletics, and is recognized as one of the most exceptional players in the sport’s history. Clark’s fame has grown tremendously and she is widely acknowledged for shining a spotlight on women’s basketball.

Tennis Channel has recently shared a video on X (previously known as Twitter) showcasing well-known female tennis players Pegula, Sakkari, and Navarro being impressed by the 22-year-old Clark. In the video, all three players expressed their respect and admiration for Clark.

Pegula drew a parallel between Clark and Danielle Collins, noting that both athletes showcased their unique personalities on the court. The American also praised Clark as the greatest of all time, as she consistently raised the bar with each match she played.

“She is pretty unbelievable. Yeah. Seems to be breaking records all the time, every time I look on social. Caitlin Clark’s competitive spirit maybe… I might say, just throw this out there, because she just won a tournament, but Danielle Collins,”the 30-year-old said.

“Because it’s basketball, I feel like they show a lot more of their personality on the court, and I think Danielle does an amazing job of that. She’s kinda just setting the bar higher and higher. So, yeah, probably the G.O.A.T.”

Sakkari revealed that the American’s never-say-die mentality resonates with her own.

“The way she… She plays basketball is just too good. She doesn’t give up. She wants to be the best. That reminds me a little bit of myself.”

In the meantime, Navarro referred to Clark as a “beast”.

“If I could describe Caitlin Clark in one word, it would be a beast.”

Top Tennis Players Dominate Opening Matches at the Charleston Open

The trio, who received a bye in the first round due to their seeding, participated in the 2024 Charlestone Open. In her first match, Jessica Pegula, the top seed, overcame a set deficit to defeat her fellow American player Amanda Anisimova. In the next round, she will compete against Magda Linette.

Maria Sakkari, the third seed, achieved a resounding victory over Viktoriya Tomova in two sets and got her tournament started on a high note. She is set to face Astra Sharma in her upcoming match.

Emma Navarro had an impressive start to her tournament, cruising to a straight-set victory against Katie Voleynets. As a result, she will face Jacqueline Cristian in the third round.
