Minji of Busters Announces Departure from K-Pop Group
This week, Minji, a prominent member of the well-known K-pop girl group Busters, disclosed her departure from the group, effective last month. The announcement came through a heartfelt letter shared on her social media, where she reflected on her remarkable five-year journey with her fellow group members.
A Grateful Farewell
In her letter, Minji expressed sincere gratitude for the experiences and memories she created during her tenure with Busters. She described her time within the group as “truly happy, ”highlighting the significant growth she achieved since she joined at the tender age of 15. Her words resonated deeply as she thanked the fans for being a pivotal part of her journey: “I’ve had so many experiences and made countless memories during my time with the group. I met the fans when I was just 15, and thanks to you all, I’ve learned and grown so much.”
Continuing Her Artistic Journey
Minji reassured her fans that this decision would not mark the end of her career in entertainment. She promised to return with even greater artistry in her future endeavors, although she did not provide specific reasons for her absence from the group. Her commitment to self-improvement suggests that her artistic journey is far from over.
Busters: A Timeline of Changes
Formed in 2017, Busters has undergone several lineup transformations over the years. Minji notably joined the group during its rebranding phase and made significant contributions to their third single album, Paeonia, released in 2020. Since then, the group has launched several successful albums, including Re: Born and Tropical Romance, attracting a loyal fanbase.
Recent Developments in the Group
Minji’s exit aligns with a trend of recent changes within the Busters lineup, which has seen other members depart while new ones have joined. Most notably, there was a major rebranding between 2022 and 2023, introducing Nami to the group as she replaced Yunji, who had left in 2021 due to personal reasons. Interestingly, Yunji had joined the group in 2021 to replace former member Minmin.
Currently, Busters consists of four members: Jieun, Seira, Takara, and Nami. The absence of Minji leaves the group as a quartet for now, with fans awaiting an official statement from Marbling Entertainment regarding their future plans.
