Renowned artist Burna Boy has recently expressed his support for Lil Durk following the rapper’s arrest on October 24, 2024. This development has sparked a wave of calls from Durk’s fans for his immediate release, with social media buzzing with related discussions.
Known by his birth name, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, Burna Boy took to Instagram on October 29 to share several Stories. One included the simple yet impactful message:
“Free Smurk.”
In another post, he included a striking black-and-white image of himself along with a thought-provoking statement:
“The streets ain’t wat it used to be. The old rules no longer apply. The way I see it, Everybody is a civilian now. No more sliding, Just Sue your opps to court and take they money.”
The Shade Room captured a glimpse of Burna Boy’s Stories, showcasing them on their Instagram account. As a result, online reactions poured in, with some users criticizing Burna for lending his support to someone accused of wrongdoing, while others echoed calls for Durk’s release.
It’s worth noting that Burna Boy and Lil Durk collaborated earlier in the year on the remix of Durk’s track “All My Life,”which was released in October 2023. The original single, launched in May, achieved significant commercial success, topping several charts including the US Billboard Hot 100.
Additionally, “All My Life”featured in Durk’s album, “Almost Healed,”which broke records for sales and streaming on multiple platforms.

The Chicago-born rapper was apprehended last week on a charge related to murder-for-hire as he attempted to board a private flight to Italy. Reports indicate that he had reserved additional tickets to Dubai and Switzerland, according to Hip Hop DX.
Durk’s legal troubles are tied to an attempted murder incident involving Quando Rondo at a California gas station on August 19, 2022. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Lil Durk is alleged to have orchestrated the attack.
While Rondo escaped unharmed, his cousin Lul Pab was fatally shot during the encounter. Lil Durk’s conflict with Rondo stems back to the November 2020 murder of rapper King Von, a member of Durk’s crew, Only The Family (OTF), allegedly at the hands of Rondo’s associate.
OTF has previously faced allegations of involvement in serious crimes, including murder and assault, highlighted in a federal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court on October 24.
This complaint revealed that profits generated by OTF over the years may have financed Lil Durk’s purported plan to kill Rondo.
A group of five individuals was arrested, having traveled to California the day before the incident. Their expenses, including accommodation, were reportedly covered using a credit card associated with Lil Durk.
Prior to the shooting, the group allegedly tailed Quando Rondo for several hours in two vehicles. This group was apprehended before Durk himself was taken into custody.
The arrested individuals included Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. According to XXL Magazine, they face severe charges such as conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.
