On October 4, 2024, HYBE, the powerhouse label behind BTS, released a teaser for the highly anticipated ‘BTS X MU:DS Collaboration Merch’ on social media platforms. This exclusive collection, designed in collaboration with the National Museum Cultural Foundation, beautifully merges traditional Korean culture with the global influence of the band.

Fans eagerly awaiting these unique items can start shopping from October 8, 2024, perfectly timed for Hangul Day, a national holiday celebrating the creation of the Korean alphabet.

The merchandise will be available for purchase on the Weverse Shop as well as at the National Museum of Korea’s Museum Shop located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

This drop marks the third edition of BTS’ ‘Dalmajung’ series, which launched in 2021. The collection is thoughtfully crafted to celebrate and showcase Korean heritage by incorporating iconic national treasures.

A key feature of the collection is that each item will not only bear the BTS branding but will also incorporate lyrics from some of the group’s hit songs, including Yet to Come and Mikrokosmos.

The K-pop sensation has previously released similar collections through this collaboration in 2021 and 2022. This year’s lineup will feature 14 distinct product designs inspired by six national treasure-level artifacts from the National Museum of Korea, including:

  1. Pensive Bodhisattva (Bangasayusang)
  2. Celadon inlaid chrysanthemum and peony pattern melon-shaped bottle
  3. Celadon inlaid chrysanthemum and vine pattern bowl
  4. White porcelain inlaid lotus and vine pattern bowl
  5. White porcelain inlaid peony and butterfly pattern flask
  6. White porcelain moon jar

This collaboration strives to illuminate the cultural significance of Korea’s artistic heritage through contemporary design while fortifying BTS’s ties to its roots.

As reported by Business Post, Jeong Yong-seok, president of the National Museum of Korea Foundation, highlighted BTS’s profound appreciation for the nation’s cultural heritage, which has played a vital role in promoting it. He expressed hope that the beauty and importance of South Korean cultural treasures would be shared with fans worldwide, stating:

“BTS’s extraordinary affection for our national cultural heritage has contributed greatly to the promotion of our cultural heritage. I hope that the beauty and excellence of our cultural heritage, such as the Bangasayusang, Goryeo celadon, and Joseon white porcelain, will be conveyed to many fans around the world.”

Meanwhile, HYBE mentioned that the 2024 Dalmajung collection is expected to resonate with an increased number of international fans, as it intertwines the group’s brand value with the significance of the country’s treasured artifacts.

The collaboration with the National Museum Cultural Foundation provides a unique platform to enhance appreciation for both the artists and South Korean culture in a meaningful and impactful manner.

Currently, all seven members of BTS are serving in the military, with the exception of Jin. They are anticipated to reunite in June 2025.
