BTS’s V Set to Make Acting Comeback in Short Film “That Night, Our Decaf”

Kim Taehyung, popularly known as V from BTS, is gearing up for his return to the acting scene with the short film That Night, Our Decaf. Scheduled for release on April 10 through Compose Coffee’s official channels, this project marks his first foray back into acting since debuting in the 2016 television drama.

A Glimpse at V’s Acting Journey

V originally made his mark in the entertainment industry with his role as Seok Han-sung in the historical series Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Han-sung, characterized as the youngest member and the last heir of his clan, was portrayed with a blend of warmth and innocence while grappling with the heavy expectations of his family’s legacy within the Silla social hierarchy. His character captivated audiences with his kind demeanor but met a tragic fate while heroically protecting another character, a performance that has remained a highlight of V’s early acting endeavors, as noted by Koreaboo.

Plot Details of the Upcoming Short Film

The narrative of That Night, Our Decaf revolves around a fateful encounter in a late-night café, emphasizing the subtle connection developed between two students. Teaser materials have revealed a scene where V’s character orders decaf coffee, which leads him to notice a female patron who makes the same choice, setting the stage for their intertwined stories.

Female Lead and Audience Confusion

Interestingly, the female lead is credited as Park Ji Min, a name that has sparked discussions online due to its association with various figures in the Korean entertainment industry, as highlighted by Nazaara Circle.

V’s Continued Journey with BTS

Aside from his acting pursuits, V has remained actively involved with BTS. The group released their latest album Arirang on March 20, 2026, showcasing their ongoing collaboration while juggling individual projects. The album’s lead single, SWIM, was launched with an accompanying music video that continues to garner attention.

A New Chapter Post-Military Service

This acting comeback occurs after V’s completion of mandatory military service, which he began in December 2023 and concluded on June 10, 2025, alongside fellow member RM, after approximately 18 months of service.

The Rise of BTS

BTS has come a long way since their debut in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment with their single album 2 Cool 4 Skool and the hit track No More Dream. Initially rooted in hip-hop, the group quickly evolved their musical style and expanded their global reach with subsequent albums like O!RUL8, 2? and Dark & Wild, positioning themselves as one of the most successful Korean music acts in the world, according to reports from the Korea Herald.
