Despite currently serving in the South Korean military, BTS member Kim Taehyung has achieved a remarkable feat with his latest single FRI(END)S, becoming the most streamed Korean artist on Spotify in the year 2024.
According to the Twitter account @btschartsdailyc, FRI(END)S has now become the most streamed song by a Korean/K-pop soloist on Spotify in 2024, surpassing IU’s Love Wins All. It is worth mentioning that the music video for this song features a member of BTS.
In 2024 so far, the BTS member has risen to become the fourth most streamed K-pop act on Spotify, surpassing the girl group BLACKPINK.
BTS’s Taehyung Breaks Spotify Records with ‘FRI(END)S’ Becoming Most Streamed Korean Act in 2024
On March 15, 2024, Kim Taehyung, also known as V, released his second solo endeavor, a new single titled FRI(END)S.
This milestone release is a major achievement for the artist, as they have now become the first Korean and K-pop act to achieve the largest weekly song debut on Spotify in 2024, surpassing even the rookie girl group LE SSERAFIM.
In addition, the track achieved a significant debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting at No. 65. This marks Taehyung’s fourth song to enter the chart, following his previous tracks ‘Christmas Tree,’ ‘Love Me Again,’ and ‘Slow Dancing.’
Moreover, in 2024, the idol achieved significant success on Spotify Counter, with FRI(END)S being recognized as the highest debut song by a K-pop artist. This achievement solidifies his status as a pioneering soloist in the competitive world of K-pop.
Significantly, the support of FRI(END)S has catapulted the Love Me Again singer to overtake BLACKPINK as the top streamed K-Pop artist on Spotify in 2024, amassing an incredible 578 million streams.
Taehyung’s newest single is his highly anticipated solo comeback, following his debut solo album Layover in 2023. The song’s music video was released alongside it and within just over 24 hours, it had already amassed over 10 million views on YouTube.

On March 31, 2024, Taehyung was seen at a home game of Hana Bank’s K League 2024 between Gangwon FC and FC Seoul, wearing his military uniform among his fellow soldiers. This was the most recent sighting of Taehyung.
Since December 11, 2023, V has been serving in the 2nd Military Army Corps of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province as part of his required military service.
