The dual-role advertisement featuring BTS’ Taehyung for Compose Coffee has set a new trend in Korean advertising, inspiring Byeon Woo-seok’s recent endorsement video. On October 30, 2024, Naver, a prominent Korean media outlet, reported the rising popularity of this creative advertising approach where a single actor portrays multiple roles.
This revelation followed the online emergence of Byeon Woo-seok’s latest Job Korea advertisement, which closely mirrored the innovative dual-role concept showcased by Taehyung in the Compose Coffee campaign.
In Taehyung’s advertisement, the BTS star adeptly switched between two identities: that of a barista and a composer, effectively drawing attention and promoting the brand. His performance sparked considerable discussion and interest among fans.
Industry experts discussed this trend, noting that utilizing actors in dual-role advertisements captures consumer attention uniquely by adding novelty and engagement. They emphasized, “The effectiveness increases when the dual-role concept aligns seamlessly with the brand’s intended message.”
Fans of BTS’ Taehyung quickly recognized the likeness between the two promotional campaigns. Consequently, V’s supporters flooded social media with sentiments of admiration for his impactful role in shaping contemporary advertising trends. One user expressed their thoughts on X:

Additionally, the brand experienced a remarkable 72% surge in sales of their Citron Tea following the advertising campaign featuring Taehyung.
As of now, BTS’ Taehyung is fulfilling mandatory military service, having enlisted in December 2023 alongside his bandmate RM, with both expected to return in June 2025.
