Update on BTS Members’ Military Training Progress
On November 4, 2024, the Korean military application Goondori provided notable updates regarding BTS members V, RM, Jungkook, and Jimin, revealing that these four artists have surpassed the halfway point of their military service. According to the data displayed on the app, they have completed 60% of their training, positioning them for potential discharge around June 2025.
Fan Reactions and Anticipations
This recent announcement has kindled excitement among BTS fans, known as ARMYs, sparking an outpouring of enthusiasm across social media platforms. Users took to the platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their anticipation for the members’ imminent return to the music scene. One fan encouraged fellow supporters with the message:
“We are almost there guys”
Many reactions from fans highlighted a collective eagerness for the members’ discharge, with sentiments such as:
“finallyyy my reasons to live are coming back soon” wrote one supporter.
“40% FINISH FAST. Yoongi must have 50% to go still,” commented another fan.
“60% sounds better than more than 200 days left,” shared another user.
“Let them out! They have served enough,” added a dedicated fan.
Mixed Emotions and Nostalgia Among Fans
Some fans expressed disbelief that half of the service time had already elapsed, reflecting on the emotional impact of the situation:
“I was looking at this picture and I was like there is one more, there one more member… when you are used to seeing seven members,” recalled one enthusiastic supporter.

BTS Members’ Current Military Status
A closer look at BTS shows that Jin and j-hope have already completed their military service. Kim Seokjin, known as Jin, was discharged on June 12, 2024, after fulfilling his mandatory 18-month requirement, having enlisted in December 2022. He received a heartfelt welcome from his bandmates on the day of his release, which remarkably coincided with the eve of BTS’ 11th debut anniversary.
In contrast, j-hope, also known as Hobi, completed his military training on October 17, 2024, following his enlistment in April 2023. His return was less publicized compared to Jin’s, as his bandmates were engaged in other commitments at the time.
As for SUGA (Min Yoongi), he enlisted in September 2023, and with a service duration of 21 months due to social service requirements, he is expected to complete his term in June 2025. Jungkook and Jimin joined the military in December 2023 under a program for companion soldiers, fostering high hopes for their coordinated return. Meanwhile, Taehyung and RM also enlisted in December, making the projected discharge date for these four members coincide around mid-2025, creating a wave of excitement among their devoted fanbase.
