Key Information About BTS j-hope’s Military Service and Discharge

BTS member j-hope began his military service in April 2023, taking on the roles of an active-duty soldier and an assistant training instructor in the 36th Infantry Division based in Wonju. He was promoted to Sergeant in May 2024, elevating his responsibilities ahead of the initially scheduled promotion date in July due to his exemplary performance.

After serving diligently, j-hope was discharged on October 17, 2024. His fellow BTS member, Jin, was there to welcome him at the military base entry during the discharge ceremony, presenting him with two large bouquets in celebration of his return to the music scene.

With j-hope and Jin both completing their military obligations, fans are thrilled and eagerly await their future projects together. The fandom has been actively celebrating j-hope’s discharge across various social networks.

Meanwhile, five BTS members—SUGA, RM, V, Jungkook, and Jimin—are still fulfilling their mandatory military service. SUGA enlisted in September 2023, followed by the others in December 2023, with all members expected to return by June 2025.

SUGA’s service period is longer, as he is serving as a social service worker instead of an active soldier. Fans are eagerly counting down until the full group can reunite and resume their K-pop activities.
