BTS Member j-hope to Pay Tribute to Shin Hae-chul with Video Message at Memorial Concerts

On October 25, 2024, Yonhap News, a prominent Korean media outlet, shared that j-hope from BTS will pay tribute to the late Shin Hae-chul through a special video message. This emotional tribute will be showcased at commemorative concerts held in remembrance of the beloved singer and songwriter, marking the tenth anniversary of his passing.

As per reports, j-hope recorded this heartfelt message after his discharge from the military and submitted it to the event organizers. The video will premiere during the memorial concert titled ‘Devil’s 10th Ghost Stage,’ scheduled for October 26 and 27 at Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.

In his video, j-hope reportedly emphasized how Shin Hae-chul has served as an inspiration to numerous artists, including himself. Alongside j-hope, various other K-pop stars are set to honor Shin Hae-chul with their performances, including N.EX.T (featuring Koh Yoo-Jin, Kim Dong-Wan, Hong Kyung-Min), PSY, NELL, Kim Bum-Soo, Yesung, Solar from MAMAMOO, HarryBigButton, Lee Seung-hwan, Jeon In-Kwon Band, Guckkasten, Epitone Project, and Xdinary Heroes.

About the Legendary K-pop Artist Shin Hae-chul

Shin Hae-chul was a renowned South Korean singer-songwriter and the frontman of the rock band N.EX.T. As a master composer, he was celebrated as a pioneer of Korean experimental rock. Fans often referred to him as the “Demon Lord”or “The Devil”due to his electrifying performances.

Shin first gained fame with his group Muhangwedo at the 1988 MBC Campus Music Festival, where they won first prize with their song “To You.”He later founded N.EX.T in 1992, further solidifying his legacy in the music industry.

From 2001 until 2012, he hosted a popular radio show. Tragically, on October 27, 2014, Shin passed away, reportedly due to medical malpractice following a surgical procedure.

BTS’ j-hope Completes Military Service on October 17

BTS member j-hope, also known as Hobi, concluded his 18-month mandatory military service on October 17, 2024. After enlisting in April 2023, he took a moment to express his gratitude upon his return.

He acknowledged the support he received from fans and members of the press who attended his discharge event. In a brief interaction with the media, j-hope conveyed his appreciation.

“I must express my thanks. First and foremost, thank you all so much. I returned from the military in good health. I’m sincerely grateful. I appreciate all the reporters who traveled this far. Completing my service well and healthily is thanks to the fans,”

j-hope is the second member of BTS to wrap up his military service, following Kim Seokjin, who completed his duty in June earlier this year. The remaining five members—Taehyung, Jimin, Namjoon, SUGA, and Jungkook—are still serving and are expected to reunite in the latter half of 2025.
