Jungkook’s Standing Next To You Was Recorded in Just One Day

On September 25, 2024, BTS’s official Twitter account, @bts_bighit, publicized a clip from Jungkook’s newly released documentary I AM STILL, revealing that he recorded Standing Next To You in a single day, generating excitement among fans. The thirty-three-second preview showcased the artist in the studio recording the track.

Standing Next To You was released on November 3, 2023, as the third solo song from Jungkook’s debut studio album GOLDEN. As of now, the official music video for the song, published by HYBE Labels, has amassed over 149 million views on YouTube.

The song also achieved over 900 million streams on Spotify on September 23, making it the fastest solo single by an Asian artist to reach this remarkable figure. Jungkook has made history with this achievement, as he now has three songs that surpassed 900 million streams on Spotify—becoming the first Asian and K-pop artist to accomplish this feat. The other two tracks are Left and Right and Seven.

The full list of tracks on the GOLDEN album includes Closer to You (feat. Major Lazer), Seven (feat. Latto) Explicit Version, Yes or No, Please Don’t Change (feat. DJ Snake), Hate You, Somebody, Too Sad to Dance, Shot Glass of Tears, and Seven (ft. Latto) Clean Version.

The making of this album is featured in Jungkook’s documentary I AM STILL, which premiered globally on September 18, 2024. The documentary’s synopsis on its exclusive website states:

“Through exclusive, unseen interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, alongside electrifying concert performances, this brand new film showcases Jung Kook’s eight-month journey, capturing his unwavering dedication and growth.”

Within just one day of its release, I AM STILL began breaking records worldwide. The documentary became the highest-grossing cinematic event for a K-pop solo artist at the box offices in Italy and South Korea.

On September 25, the film review platform Rotten Tomatoes honored I AM STILL with its ‘Verified Hot’ designation, awarded to films possessing the highest authenticated audience ratings. Currently, I AM STILL holds a Verified Hot rating of 100% on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter.

In related news, Jungkook’s track Seven (explicit version) also received Platinum certification from the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan) on September 27, 2024, having surpassed 100 million streams in the RIAJ’s streaming category.
