The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) plays a pivotal role in representing Japan’s music industry and works to safeguard and promote music and sound recording rights nationwide.

One of the RIAJ’s primary functions includes certifying music sales across albums, singles, and digital downloads, providing vitally important metrics for an artist’s success in Japan. Certification levels vary from Gold to Million, based on sales and streaming figures, making these accolades highly sought after by artists around the world.

RIAJ certifications hold particular significance in Japan, one of the largest music markets globally. Achieving these certifications often indicates strong traction and success within the region.
