On October 24, 2024, Jin from BTS unveiled the flavor profile of his eagerly awaited pre-release single, “I’ll Be There,”which is part of his debut solo album titled “HAPPY.”The announcement came through Weverse when a fan shared a link about the single and inquired:
“Seokjin, what kind of flavor is this??????”
In response, Jin specified, ‘Soda Flavour.’ He previously discussed the ‘flavors’ of his album in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Korea for their September 2024 cover feature.
On August 14, Harper’s Bazaar Korea released a cover story featuring Kim Seokjin, where various aspects of his career and personal life were highlighted.
When asked about the sound of his forthcoming solo project, he offered subtle clues, comparing the songs on his “HAPPY”album to different ice cream flavors.
Jin indicated that the album’s tracks would encompass diverse styles, referencing tastes like soda flavor, popping candy, and dark chocolate. This suggests that he is ready to experiment with new genres and deliver a fresh experience to his fans.
He connected his upcoming track, “I’ll Be There,”with the ‘soda flavor,’ which also refers to a music style. The soda pop genre fuses elements of pop, rock, and electronic music. As a result, Jin’s revelation on Weverse generated excitement across various social channels. One fan expressed this enthusiasm on X, stating:
“SO IT’S POP… I’M SO READY FOR IT”
Many fans were taken aback to learn that ‘soda flavor’ pertains to a music genre.
“Wait so Soda Pop is a music genre? Ngl I keep learning new things ever since I became ARMY. Yes for Soda Pop,”a fan remarked on X.
“BTS be doing all the genre I didn’t know existed likee there’s a soda pop?,”noted another fan.
“Wdym soda pop is actually a music genre??? I thought he was just teasing us,”wrote another user on X.
Some fans suspected that Jin was playfully joking about these ice cream-inspired flavors.
“I wasn’t aware this was an actual genre and just thought Seokjin was being his silly goofy self… AAHHAHHHHAHAHA CANT WAIT,”one fan commented.
“Soda flavor as in SODA POP!? With a rock band too!! He actually wasn’t just making a silly joke about the songs having different flavors omfg. Dark chocolate sounds so sensual & seductive to me… I think we’re not ready,”shared another admirer.
