Jimin’s First Two Solo Albums: A Journey Through Emotion and Sound
Jimin’s inaugural solo album, FACE, launched on March 24, 2023, featured the breakthrough title track “Like Crazy.”This monumental song captivated audiences, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. As a result, Jimin etched his name in the history books as the first K-pop soloist to achieve this significant milestone. On the album’s release date alone, it surpassed over 1 million copies sold on Hanteo.
FACE includes five tracks co-written by Jimin, Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and Evan. Thematically, the album grapples with profound subjects like loneliness, self-exploration, and emotional resilience, profoundly influenced by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jimin’s personal and professional life.
According to insights shared in a Weverse interview featuring Pdogg and GHSTLOOP, Jimin began developing both FACE and MUSE in parallel during 2022, highlighting how each piece of music interrelates.
“Rebirth (Intro)” seamlessly links MUSE to “Set Me Free Pt. 2,” representing a transformative chapter for Jimin, while the vibrant lyrics elevate anticipation for what’s next.” – Pdogg
The Collaborative Experience Behind “WHO”
GHSTLOOP emphasized Jimin’s deep involvement throughout the creative process of “WHO.”However, crafting this single proved to be challenging, as Jimin contemplated how to authentically convey the song’s emotional nuances.
“Working alongside Jon Bellion, he meticulously articulated his vision, leading to creative breakthroughs that shaped ‘WHO’ into what it is.”- GHSTLOOP
Pdogg echoed these sentiments, noting Jimin’s clarity of purpose for the track, which embodies a transition from the intensely personal themes of FACE to a broader and more abstract exploration in MUSE.
Track List and Upcoming Projects
The album MUSE features six captivating tracks, including “WHO,”along with the pre-release track “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band”(featuring Loco) and B-side gems like “SLOW DANCE”(featuring Sofia Carson), “BE MINE,”as well as “Rebirth: (Intro),””Interlude: SHOWTIME,”and “Closer Than This.”
