As BTS member Jimin celebrated his 29th birthday, fans worldwide took a creative approach to mark the occasion. Various fan clubs rallied together to contribute substantial donations to multiple organizations, all in honor of the beloved BTS star. Their collective efforts aimed to enhance the living conditions for individuals experiencing poverty.
The inspiration for these acts of generosity stems from Jimin’s own ongoing commitment to charitable causes over the years. As he currently serves in the military, his fan clubs opted to honor his values and humility through these benevolent initiatives, leaving ARMYs around the globe smiling.
Jimin’s Birthday Inspires Global Philanthropy
In lieu of typical birthday festivities, ARMYs across the globe demonstrated their charitable enthusiasm by making impressive donations in Jimin’s name. Their actions reflect his leading example of philanthropy by supporting various important causes.
A notable initiative was a five-year blood donation drive in collaboration with the Korean Red Cross, which saw participation from 2,545 individuals from 2018 to 2024. The blood donation certificates collected will be attributed to Jimin.
In Myanmar, Jimin’s fan base contributed to relief efforts in flood- and politically-stricken communities. They provided vital supplies such as food, clean water, medicine, and clothing, reaching out to six villages along the Sittoung River and assisting displaced families in Karenni State.
Meanwhile, the Latin American fan organization “JiminLatinFB”made donations to the American Cancer Society to promote research on breast cancer, as well as to the Wildlife Conservation Network, aimed at protecting endangered wildcats.
His Asia-Pacific fan club supported the NGO Save the Children and the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders, which delivers medical services globally. These contributions represent just a fraction of the myriad ways fans have mobilized to support various causes.
Jimin himself has a history of charitable engagement. In May 2024, he allocated 100 million KRW to establish scholarships for students from low-income families in Gyeongsangnam-do. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, he also donated 100 million KRW to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to assist those impacted.
Further demonstrating his commitment to helping others, he contributed another 100 million KRW in 2021 to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children. In 2023, he and fellow BTS member J-Hope jointly donated $156,000 to UNICEF to aid earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.
These fan-led initiatives have filled fellow ARMY members with immense pride and exemplify the profound influence of Jimin’s charitable legacy.
