BTS’ Jimin donated for scholarships to the Department of Physical Therapy at Dongeui Science University
BTS’ Jimin once again made headlines on March 31, 2024 for his philanthropic actions. According to an X user (@PJM_data), he generously donated a scholarship for students studying Physical Education at Dongeui Institute of Technology in Busan. The university’s official website also featured information about the scholarship, as shared by a fellow professor named Kwon Kwon-Jeong.
Jimin, the “Like Crazy”singer-songwriter, has made multiple contributions to the education sector, including generous donations to his alma mater, Busan Arts High School. In total, he has given the school 160 million KRW, equivalent to approximately $118,000, with individual donations of 30 million KRW, or around $22,200.
As a result, his supporters were deeply touched by his continual displays of kindness and consideration, as well as his unwavering commitment to aiding students in South Korea. They praised the celebrity for possessing a “heart of gold”and flooded social media with words of admiration.
Jimin’s Generosity Continues to Inspire as He Helps Students Access Education
In a post on Dongeui Science University’s website, Professor Kwon Kwon-Jeong of the Department of Physical Therapy expressed his gratitude on behalf of the department.
“BTS Jimin donated a scholarship to the Department of Physical Therapy at Dongeui Science University. We are so grateful that Professor Taesik Lee and Jimin’s father became connected and supported the development of the Department of Physical Therapy.”
The professor went on to say:
“In the first semester of 2024, a second-year student was selected as a scholarship student, and in the second semester, this scholarship will continue…We hope that our students will receive scholarships and become talents that society needs more, and we hope that our students will also live a life of giving to others.”
Recognizing that students in Busan often faced challenges due to family circumstances and struggled to focus on their studies, Jimin made the decision to offer assistance.
With the additional contributions from other donors, the total amount raised reached KRW 193 million or approximately $143,000. As a result, ten students were able to receive this prestigious honor.
The popular singer-songwriter known for their hit “FACE”has generously made a total of twelve donations to aid Heedong Elementary School with their uniform expenses and to support children’s academic pursuits. Additionally, the Busan Arts High School was provided with 1,200 brand new desks, while the Busan Board of Education was gifted nearly 100 million KRW (equivalent to approximately $74,000) on two occasions. The Jeonnam Education Center for the Future will also receive scholarships worth around 100 million KRW, or approximately $74,000.
In addition, the International Rotary Club and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation were each given over 100 million KRW, equivalent to approximately $74,000. He also donated more than 100 million KRW (around $74,000) to UNICEF and the Gangwondo Board of Education.
In addition, Jimin has donated more than 5 million KRW (equivalent to approximately $3,700) to the Busan Nam-gu Love Your Hometown fund and has also contributed over 100 million KRW (around $74,000) to the Chungbukdo Board of Education.
At the moment, the BTS idol and musician known for his successful solo album FACE is fulfilling his military duty in South Korea. He enlisted in December 2023 and is expected to complete his service in June 2025.
