BTS’ J-Hope reported to have paid in full for the events at the ‘HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1’ U.S. listening party

On March 29, 2024, J-Hope, a member of BTS, released his second solo album, titled Hope ON THE STREET Vol. 1, digitally. The album features six original soundtracks from his second documentary series, HOPE ON THE STREET, which was only available for a limited time and included six episodes filmed in different cities around the globe, including Seoul, Osaka, and New York.

To celebrate its worldwide launch, BIGHIT MUSIC (now HYBE Labels), which operates under HYBE Corporation, hosted a listening party on Stationhead on March 29. Additionally, a listening party was also held in the United States on the same day for J-Hope’s fans to come together, enjoy his new album, and celebrate.

According to reports, the event hosted in the United States was fully funded by the South Korean artist and BTS sensation. On Twitter, user @j94shope (X) mentioned:

“ARMY at the HOTS parties have been told that Hobi paid for the events!! He really paid for ARMY to have fun and dance and just enjoy music.”

According to a post by X user (@cyb3rpunkt), attendees of the HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 listening party in the United States were treated to complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. The selection of non-alcoholic cocktails included “ON THE STREET”with pineapple ginger mule and edible gold glitter, and “I WONDER”featuring a special blend of ceremonial matcha, yuzu, and lemon.

The final beverage on the menu, “NEURON,”was a splendid blend of green plum, lychee, and green tea spritz. It should be noted that all of the cocktails were named after tracks from his second solo album, in addition to “LOCK/UNLOCK,”which was crafted from jujube fruit and Omija-cha shot.

The user with the handle @cyb3rpunkt, referred to as X, wrote:

“There was a full liquor bar at the NYC release party, but these are the yummy drinks Hobi gave us for free. I had several of the OTS drink. I wonder if he selected these himself.”

Despite serving in the South Korean military since April 2023, J-Hope paid for all the drinks and food at the HOPE ON THE STREETS pop-up store in Seoul, organized by BIGHIT MUSIC for his loyal fans. On March 31, 2024, the rapper-songwriter shared photos of the store on his Instagram story, much to the delight of his fans.

The artist’s second solo album held immense importance as all six tracks served as background scores for his docu-series. Unlike his first project, J-Hope In the Box, which was released on February 17, 2023, his new documentary is a series rather than a film.

The journey of Jung Ho-seok of Gwangju is chronicled in HOPE ON THE STREET, as he went from being a dance enthusiast to a prodigy after being noticed by the dance group Neuron Crew. The album pays tribute to his first dance group with the song NEURON, which holds great significance in his life. Following this, Jung Ho-seok auditioned for BigHit Entertainment (now HYBE Corporation) and made his debut as a rapper for BTS.

Over the course of six episodes, J-Hope explores his roots as a street dancer alongside his former coach and fellow champion dancer, Boogaloo Kin. Currently, two episodes of the documentary series have been released, showcasing J-Hope’s journey in Osaka where he connects with other dancers, showcases his skills on the streets, and reflects on his earlier days as a dancer.

The first documentary of the BTS rapper followed him through every step of the process as he prepared to release his debut solo album, Jack in the Box. Viewers were given an inside look at the artistic challenges he faced during the album preparation, as well as exclusive access to J-Hope’s performance at Lollapalooza 2022 and the listening party for the record.

Both J-Hope In the Box and HOPE ON THE STREET are available for streaming globally. J-Hope In the Box can be found on Disney Plus, while HOPE ON THE STREET can be streamed on Prime Video and TVING.
