On October 16, 2024, Eyes Magazine editor Park Jin-pyo took to Instagram to share an update, tagging BTS member Kim Namjoon, known as RM. In his story, he announced that the youngest member had taken a break to come home for a short vacation.
“Our youngest is on leave @/rkive”
Excited fans quickly spread the word that Namjoon’s temporary leave coincided perfectly with j-hope’s military release. For those unfamiliar, Jung Ho-seok, better known as j-hope, began his service in the South Korean military on April 18, 2023, and is scheduled to be discharged on October 17, 2024, after fulfilling an 18-month commitment.
Previously, during Kim Seok-jin’s military discharge on June 12, 2024, all BTS members had postponed their military duties to celebrate Jin’s return to civilian life. This led fans to speculate that Namjoon might also have taken leave to be present for j-hope’s discharge event on October 17.
One fan shared their thoughts on X:
“Namjoon on leave… oh we’re getting that OT7 reunion really soon.”
Park Jin-pyo’s Instagram story quickly gained traction online, inciting a flurry of excitement among the BTS fandom, all of whom are eager to witness the “OT7″(the complete BTS lineup) together for j-hope’s military discharge.
“On leave you say? Which means he will be there. The other members might be on leave too. Girls we’re getting BTS tomorrow!”a fan exclaimed.
“So tomorrow we will get OT7 pics and they will have lunch together, I’m so happy guys,”another fan commented.
“We are going to see the members together in just a few hours; I’m already in tears,”one more fan said.
Others are buzzing with the possibility that BTS’ Jungkook and Jimin are also on temporary leave from their military obligations.
“Wait, if Jikook are rumored to be on leave and RM IS on leave, doesn’t this point to an OT7 reunion tomorrow?”a fan speculated.
“OH MY GOD! I FEEL LIKE THE WORLD IS FINALLY HEALING,”another fan expressed.
“OMG. We’re truly getting an OT7 reunion tomorrow. Please don’t tease me; I’m already sobbing,”yet another fan added.
