“Bro fumbled badly”: NBA fans mock Kevin Porter Jr. as ex-Rockets guard, accused of domestic assault, signs with Greek team
Despite a tumultuous offseason filled with off-court problems, Kevin Porter Jr. has returned to the game of basketball, albeit not in the NBA. The former USC Trojan has joined the PAOK basketball club in the Greek Basket League to showcase his skills.
After facing domestic assault charges, KPJ was traded to the OKC Thunder by the Houston Rockets, but was later waived. He has not played on the basketball court since then and will now be putting on his basketball shoes to play in Greece.
Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report this news, which triggered a range of responses and perspectives from basketball fans about Porter Jr.’s next chapter in his career.
Despite the fact that the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards are in need of basketball talent, many fans are puzzled that KPJ hasn’t made their rosters. However, there are also some who believe that he may not live up to his projected reputation.
“Idc what anybody says.. I don’t think he did what they said he did,”said joshmindset.
Despite Kevin Porter Jr’s previous success in the league, where he averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds for the Houston Rockets, many fans are now questioning how his career took such a downward turn that he is now playing overseas.
“Bro fumbled badly,”commented naren.bala.
Similarly, a few seasons ago, Miles Bridges found himself in a similar situation as KPJ, facing domestic charges.
“Miles Bridges is in the league. He might as well get a spot,”said 4dbjeff.
The Controversial Past of Kevin Porter Jr.
The recent announcement that Kevin Porter Jr. has signed with a Greek basketball team has caused many basketball fans to believe that the NBA is sending a strong message to all players, coaches, and executives to maintain a high level of conduct and be exemplary members of society.
The charges of domestic assault against Porter Jr. were initially filed on September 11, 2023, and this was not his first encounter with the authorities.
On November 15, 2020, the Houston Rockets guard was charged with a weapons offense by Hamoning County Police following a single-car accident. He was accused of mishandling a firearm while in a vehicle. However, the grand jury ultimately chose not to indict him on felony gun charges, as the gun was reportedly owned by his mother.
Kevin Porter Jr. had previously faced a difficult situation, which he had bravely endured. However, it appears that a recent case of domestic assault has been the last straw. On January 23, the USC Trojan made the decision to accept a plea deal, ultimately pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of reckless assault and second-degree harassment.
