Britney Spears has shared details about a “scary”fire incident earlier this year that left her eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair singed off after an exploding fireplace.
The pop star explained that this event occurred six months ago, describing how it “just threw the whole thing in there”and blew back into her face. In a British accent, she recounted:
“I was in my room and I turned the fire on and, all of a sudden, it blew up in my face. It’s done it before, and the times it’s happened before, I quit so I always get my security to come in and light it for me because I was so scared it was going to blow up.”
The singer of “Criminal”revealed that the fire “took all [her] lashes off,”including her eyebrows and part of her hair. She displayed her baby hair or baby bangs, stating that it is a remnant of the hair that the fire had singed.
Britney Spears Discusses Pain from Fire Incident
In her Instagram video, Britney Spears also mentioned that the fire left her in pain, stating that her “face was on fire”and she thought about going to the emergency room. She further added:
“It hurt to touch my phone. It hurt to put ice on my face. It hurt [to have] anything touch it.”
The burning sensation lingered for six to seven hours after the incident, with the pop star describing the pain as “so, so, so bad”and that it “never went away.”Fortunately, she was able to get some rest after taking three Tylenol pills, which she celebrated as a “really, big deal”compared to the “f**king Vicodin.”
While Britney Spears reassured her fans that she is now okay, this isn’t her first encounter with fire. Last year, she disclosed an accidental fire incident caused by lighting candles in her home gym. In December 2023, she shared images of the aftermath on Instagram, revealing her gym equipment and a one-sided mirror.
In the same post, the pop princess made it clear that no one was injured in the incident and expressed her preference for outdoor workouts, emphasizing her positive outlook on the situation.
Britney Spears Teases Upcoming “Special Project”
Aside from the recent fire incident, Britney Spears has been teasing a “special project”in an Instagram post dated August 31. She clarified that it “isn’t a biopic story,”but rather a fictional musical.
In this project, Spears mentioned she will portray “an extremely intelligent character”and will collaborate with director Jon Chu, known for his work on films like Step Up 2: The Streets, Crazy Rich Asians, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, and the forthcoming adaptation of Wicked.
Previously, on August 1, Britney Spears hinted at a “secret project”with producer Marc Platt on X, stating:
“Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies. Stay tuned.”
Universal Pictures has reportedly acquired the movie rights to her bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me, with Jon and Marc leading the project’s development. The memoir, released last October, achieved critical acclaim and sold over 2.5 million copies in the U.S.
